You may do gear which compresses - I did this actually in An-2 for the first time and it works.
You design keyframes:
0 - gear (r_gear...., l_gear....) is retracted
100 - fully extended as you see it in flight
101 - fully compressed as you see it on the ground
(those two last work for me, for a piston powered An).
BTW- I think if you would add another cross section to the canopy it will look even nicer.

I think you should make it with gear compression animated.
It's not hard to do, I can help if ya like.
At least it only has 3 wheels to worry about... not 24
Edit: just beat me to it Rip.

rightyo, i reckon i can do tht, ill have a play with it!`, also, struglin with the engine intakes, if u look at a head to ead shot of a hawk, the engine intakes are very thick, with a compatively samll hole for the air to enter, any ideas on how to modelit cos icant figure it out!

Well, just like in almost every other case: lets start from a proper tube part and form it ...

I vote for the animated gear compression as well
Rip, I think I did keyframe 200 for the full compression on the Tweet.
@Dark
24 gears? What kind of bird are you making? Not a C5 I hope ?

Yes, right, I've just checked it and keyframe 200 compression does work during taxi and touch down!
So I correct the list to:
0 - gear (r_gear...., l_gear....) is retracted
100 - fully extended as you see it in flight
101 - normally (statically) compressed as you see it on the ground
200 - fully (dynamic) compressed (a bang onto the ground)

Jake,
I believe that I know what it may be also, but it is not my place to say either.

Is it the Sinclair C5 Display Team or perhaps Antonov 124? That would be something.
Whatever it is I'm sure we will appreciate the skill that went into it.
