My AI Vulcans are now at home at Waddington. I've picked 1982 as the year that probably saw the most varieties, although the K2s might not have been there for a few months later. Here's the parking arrangement:
I have not put the hose and drogue on the K2 because it really needs a reduction in the aircraft cruising speed from 500 Knots to 250 Knots to allow users intercepting the tanker to catch up. I would also need to delete Mike M's contrail effect that would otherwise obscure the drogue. I could do it though with seperate aircraft packs and additional documentation. More work, but I'll do it if people are desperate for it.
A special treat for FSX users is the custom sound pack produced by Steve at ACG (Military Sound Studios). My stomach was shaking as I took this screen shot:
The only down side is that with 2 smoke effects per engine x 4 engines a 4 aircraft = a drop in frame rate for a few minutes of 40% in FS9 and 50% in FSX. Worth it though.
The scenery was produced 5 years ago and although it's Gmax it's not as efficient as my later airfields. It also uses tools for the ground layout that I no longer have installed or can probably remember how to use, so I can't really change much. A complete re-work would take months. Here's one of the dispersals:
I've sent links to the pre-release packages to the people I have been working with on the project so that they can have a play with them. If there are an additional 6 people here (3 FS9 and 3 FSX) who would lke to do the same, please PM me and tell me your sim version and I'll send the links. I'll post again when I have the 6. I'd particularly like to know if the manual is clear. If all goes well, I can then upload to flightsim.com and Avsim next weekend.
I have also been asked if it would be possible to make scenery models of all the static Vulcans that are on airfields around the UK. I will do that while people are having a play with the AI. I've actually included the textures for most of them in the AI packs anyway so that will help.
