Thanks for the Mirage series, looks great !

I only cheked the 3E with "late" model versions and repaints sofar but could it be that I am missing some textures for the weapon load out, stairs and chocks ? I did copy the the textures from the texture folder into the main texture folder, but it still looks something is missing...

Image

Also I noticed that the smoke effect for the engine is activated as soon as the nav lights turn on, this should actually be when the beacon is activated (when the engines start up)... This only requires a small change in the lights section of the aircraft.cfg though...

Two small reapaint glitches:
- aircraft with code 3-IC has code XE on the nosewheel door
- aircraft with code 3-JC has code JI on the nosewheel door

Looking forward to the rest of this series !

Cheers,
Eric

Oh, man, the Mirage III is becoming the bane of my existence.....

Easy fix for the weapons; it's a texture add-in, the most current version of one of my master texture folder files. I have it in my own system, so everything renders fine on beta-test, an older file got into the mix. Sorry about that; this was not a QA or beta-test issue, it was a file assembly mistake on my part. I am releasing most of the IIIE exports this week, and will include the most updated 'International Weapons' texture file to cover those textures. Also, I will add in the small paint change Eric found for me for the French IIIEs, and tack that into these files.

Okay, I just re-beta-tested the IIIE French models, and I am not duplicating this blue texture thing. I removed my core textures from FS and re-installed the package as I uploaded it, and it works just fine. I also re-checked my models to make sure any un-intended textures were not in the material list (modelers will understand what this is); as I had changed texture names on some of my ordnance in the past; that is not the issue either. I can't explain why the blue texture thing is happening, unless these aircraft are being used in FSX (they are FS9 models).

However....

I did fix the smoke effect FDE trigger, the typo on the nose gear door of the JC aircraft, and will include the IIIE lightmap; all of this will be included with the first IIIE export package, probably due by tomorrow, I will post pix ahead of time. There will be several IIIE export packages, each with several different country variations.

I said I would try to release one package a week, of something, until the new year, or until I run out of backed-up material....

Today I lied a little bit, and uploaded eight export Mirage IIIE packages to AVSIM, and a global (version 1.4) FDE update for all of the IIICs and the IIIE French package.

Packages uploaded today:

Mirage 5EAD Abu Dhabi and UAE Air Force (four different paint/roundel schemes between the two generations)
Mirage 5SDE/5SSE Egyptian Air Force (some have the orange ID stripes)
Mirage IIIEA Argentina (Falklands and current)
Mirage IIIEBR Brazil (original silver and upgraded with canards)
Mirage IIIEE Spain (70s and 80s roundel/fin schemes)
Mirage IIIEL Lebanon
Mirage IIIEV Venezuela
Mirage IIIS Switzerland (original silver and C70 upgrade with canards)

IIIE packages to do: RAAF (next out), which will be probably the most diverse painting; and the Pakistan package that I wanted to save until last since they use IIIEP plus surplus IIIEL (ex- Lebanon) and IIIO (ex-RAAF); and I wanted to get those base models done first.

Then on to the next version. I think I will clear out the IIIR and the IIIB/BE next, because the M5 is going to be insanely diverse and will take a little time to pick apart. But we'll see how Crusaders, Tigers, and a few other things shake out.

Have fun with it.

Did a re-install of the 3E and now everything looks fine, no missing textures this time... Sorry to cause this false alarm Mike !

Thanks for the continued series of Mirage's, looking fabulous !

As usual, there are a few little things here and there with a couple of the models, but these are physical things, not functional things; and they are little fine-tune tweaks to an already functional and visible set of models. I don't count these as gross mistakes, but I will be making the models better on a continuous basis. I will be releasing a couple of discreet model updates with future new model releases.

For the small percentage of people who strive for absolute perfection in this virtual hobby...... :D

The IIIEE uses the wrong missiles, I have to change to AIM-9Bs, and fix the Doppler dome on one or two models
The IIIS (late) is missing the ground covers for the AIM-9Ls
The IIIBE models have the rudder actuator (little bump in the middle of the tail) on both sides when it should only be on the left side.

Considering how much research went into making these models as individual as possible, I am happy with only these three mistakes; and only one was really a research mistake, the other two are flat-out modeling errors (failure to copy in parts).

I think you (the fans) will find that I am my own hardest critic (with a little friendly nudge from Frank now and then, lol).

Happy Flying.

Here are the Mirage 5F and IIIR/RD previews..... Now that all of the core models are released, I will be releasing some country projects in full packs with all variants. For the Belgian fans who have been bugging me to no end, this is a hint and a half...... :P

Have fun with it as usual.
