I was in the VT ANG's 134th FIS during the 1965 to 1974 period that we were assigned F/TF-102A "Deuces" for our Air Defense Command mission and T-33A "T-Birds" as target aircraft for training and evaluation sorties.

My avatar to the left is from a photo of me in the right seat of one of our "Tubs" just before we taxied out on a sortie. Below is a copy of the actual Polaroid photo and although it is quite dark due to the overcast day and the Polaroid camera, I think you can see what Mike P. means by the "inverted "triangle shape" around the "Tubs" wide cockpit.

Lively conversations here.... Anyways, a good time to change the subject a little bit, away from geometry arguments, lol.... I need some research assistance, and I am throwing this one out there for anybody to pitch in and help out with. This is the 2nd FIS (52nd Fighter Group) from Suffolk County AFB, late 1950s. This is the only picture I have of anything resembling a unit tail for this aircraft for this squadron. They used F-101s and F-106s following the Deuce, and their tails are all completely different from each other, and this aircraft. I am enclosing the picture here, and the SWAG paint attempt (scientific wild-ass guess) I made on the colors of the tail striping. I know it isn't the red or blue of the roundel, because the grey shades don't match. So, I just copied the corners of the 52nd Fighter Group crest which is on the tail. If anybody has a color photo, or firsthand knowledge, it would be immensely appreciated.

Friend of mine has 3 black and white negatives of different A/C but I don't think they'll be of any help . Waiting for an answer from another source

Sorry Mike,couldn't find anything. ADC competitions at the time were well documented and IF the 2nd FIS attended they'll snow up in a pic . Don't worry if ya can't find any definate paint scheme .No one will argue .

I appreciate the effort by all who have pitched in, even if there isn't any definitive proof yet. I have a couple of other squadrons in the same fix, either no pix or BW only. So, count on more than one SWAG if need be, lol....

I should have pix of the re-worked Tubby posted in a day or so, a lot of fuselage and canopy work, but it looks a lot more like what it is supposed to....

Here is a matched pair, expect on seeing a lot of that in this package. This is a significantly re-worked TF-102, with the triangular canopy, the inverted-triangle front-end; and both models have enhanced paint kits in play with all sorts of dirt, fade, and rivets. I'm pretty happy with both models at this point, just waiting on final FDE, and a lot of painting, then these will be coming in short order.

Here's a big service pack for the F-104A/B/C/D, which will be uploaded tomorrow (Sunday). It incorporates the fixes from the F-104G beta-testing, fixes the nose gear so it steers the right direction, and fixes various texture issues. I am also throwing in some new models, the NF-104 and the F-104G/TF-104G NASA models. Have fun with it.

I think that chances are we will.

Here are the Luftwaffe and Marineflieger F-104Gs, 3 packages, 23 models, and 218 repaints covering virtually all units who used these aircraft back in the day. I included all generations of paint and serial coding (2-letter and 4-number), plus several unique base models. There are a couple of models between the MFG and Luftwaffe F-104Gs that are only used in one or the other, but you can mix-n-match as you see fit. Base models included are the F-104F, F-104G, TF-104G, and both versions of the RF-104G. I'm doing some last minute in-sim checks, and these get uploaded today.
