Thanks Mike, it's not made any easier by http://www.strategic-air-command.com/wings/0307sw.htm showing a 307th Strategic Wing also at U-Tapao

307th Strategic Wing, U-Tapao RTNAF, Thailand
B-52D, 1973–1975

It's currently operating as the 307th Bomb Wing out of Barksdale.

Yeah, with research, sometimes it is what it is. We all know the aircraft were there, so if the folder is a little erred, I'm not losing sleep over it, lol......mp

Will there be a H version? Or is this project just focusing on the retro BUFF's? I would love to fill up my Minot AFB scenery with H models.

Okay, we're seven packages into it, and I am issuing my first fix, knew it was coming, lol. I wish it had been as easy as a model, but it was a global texture error on the camo G paints. I had the registration on the trailing edge of the tail, like on the early metal repaints, but when the SIOP camo was in play the serial was on the leading edge. I figured this out while finishing up the H model paints today, so I went back and fixed the Gs. Also, the Hound Dog missile is camouflaged on all camo paints now, didn't catch that on the first pass, sorry. And lastly, I had three different shades of the 70s-80s SIOP camo in play, and I wasn't satisfied with a couple of them, so I fixed that as well. All Gs match the Hs in basic scheme now, as they should. And, before anybody tries to correct my math, it is seven packages when these two post to AVSIM in a few hours..... The part 6 screenshot was before the texture fix, so the serial has been already corrected like in the part 7 screenshot.

Great Models Mike,
Just wondering is there a part 8 to come with current B-52H aircraft in the all over green or is that reserved for MAIW and possible future Minot and Barksdale packages?
Regards,
Steve

I've been telling various people in emails, so I will clarify it here. I actually have two or three more parts planned for this before getting to the current (overall grey) schemes, which are also distinct models in their own right (more antenna, no guns at all). I am painting for the Gulf War package, which is slow going since I have accurate serial-to-unit information, and about 3/4 of these aircraft have nose art.; so I can't cheat, no randomizing of serials here, lol. I am planning the Gulf War package with the late SAC scheme (2-tone green and overall green), and several conventional loads; and a mid-90s package with the final G model which served through 1993 and did appear in the current grey scheme in a few places, along with the H which was transitioning into what it is today. Plus there is a little bit of info I have found since releasing the original packages, so I might do a little more service pack work; it's not essential, but I have to sit down and think about it. The current H model will also have a few new conventional loads like LGBs and JDAMs.

As for the current-use aircraft, I am giving MAIW first right of refusal on these. I know that the scenery for Minot has been released on the side, in light of the delays getting this aircraft out the door, but that shouldn't stop somebody from MAIW from jumping in as project manager. I know that the Barksdale scenery is in-progress, so that project should be ripe to pick up as well. What I would like is for anybody on the staff or contributor side to PM me and let me know intent, so I know to hold the aircraft back for a package, or to release either or both packages directly to the public. Thanks for the support and patience on this package, hopefully I am giving you your money's worth, lol....

Here is the Gulf War package for the B-52Gs, this is probably the biggest package of this series, 82 repaints, and about half of them have nose art.

Just in case anybody is not up on the history, the 801 BW was at Moron, Spain, the 806 BW was at Fairford, the 1708 BW was at Jeddah, and the 4300 BW was at Diego Garcia. The 569 BS/2 BW was at Barksdale, and took part in some of the opening night missions against the Iraqi power grid. The provisional bomb wings were all made up of aircraft from 379 BW (Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan), 416 BW (Griffiss AFB, New York), 42 BW (Loring AFB, Maine), 93 BW (Castle AFB, California), and 2 BW (Barksdale AFB, Louisiana). All of my serial info is from www.desertstorm.eu, a great website, which I have used in the past for Mirage F.1, A-4, and Mirage 2000 paints.

Parts 9, 10, and 11 are forthcoming, they will cover the last B-52Gs in ACC Grey, and the B-52H from 1986 to around 1999. This will catch everything up to the current B-52Hs, and then I will take a little breather and let the scenery and project gurus at MAIW catch up, lol.
