Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
When I get home this evening I will have a look at Elvis's 707s but I think he does a 707-300.

posted at retro ai , those people are 707 crazy and have got to have it .

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
I HAVE THE ELVIS MODEL AND THE DWAI MODEL !
so which one do you want ?
they said the dimensions of the dwai is closest to the real thing but lacks the eye candy that the elvis model provides .

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
threw some paint over the dwai model for fun while you'll think it over .

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
I'm gonna find the different models in my sim and have a closer look. I'll get back to you. If you do throw the blue stripes onto an Elvis model anytime soon, naturally I'd love to see a screenshot
If any other readers of this thread have an opinion on the different models and their flight characteristics/looks/size/features etc., do let us know.
Cheers

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
I do have DWAI models, but I have Elvis 707's installed so I would prefer them. Generally speaking newer models are of better quality, for the most part.

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
Christian Page was kind enough to direct me to his advanced paintkit for the DWAI model .
compare the photos we have with screenshots i have provided .
there seems to be an extra door at the back ,on the real aircraft .
the elvis model also allows you to give engine covers which is of importance to us , as the aircraft is stored .

Thanks for your input Steve
It does look like the Elvis model is the way forward then - if you can get the required paintkit...

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
Is it possible to slightly distort the roundel on the aft fuselage so that it is progressively squashed towards the top (on the paint file) so that it appears to be circular on the actual model as rendered by the graphics - ie. as viewed at a point perpendicular to the surface on which the roundel appears, rather than from a point at the same height/eye level that is out to the side and therefore not looking at the roundel fully face-on. That might not be practical to do, however. I'm just being picky, and putting the idea out there.
Don't worry if that's too tedious
I know I've seen a photo of the colour of the covers. I'll look again.
K2900 should probably look dirtier than K2899, being older. I haven't found conclusive evidence as to the current use of these planes, but what I've read on the internet about one of these aircraft being stored is contradicted by other reports suggesting that they have just changed bases, or are having their onboard equipment developed and upgraded etc. Due to the use and ownership of these aircraft, I am sceptical towards the accuracy of any claims about the status of these aircraft. They may both still be flying, so maybe it would be best not to overdo the weathering too much - unless you have concrete evidence to the contrary.
My flightplans have both of them flying - but in the event that this is inacurate, whenever the aircraft are parked they will have engine covers. So as far as the package user is concerned they could be stored, if that's what the user wishes to believe.

Yellow:
So you can probably just leave them as they are...kungfuman wrote:Here's the requested image showing an An-32, the Gulfstream G3 VT-ENR (K2960), and one of the 707-337Cs:

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
so what you are trying to tell me is , if i draw a perpendicular to the fuselage passing through the roundels center and place my eye at any point on that normal , i should see a full circle .
but when you look at the aircraft in profile , it should give an optical illusion of being somewhat elliptical at the top .
i have never tried that .
i am pretty sure they don't fly . there is one stored in nagpur as well .
thank you .

Re: Indian Air Force paints - anybody?
As far as the model package is concerned it was only on Avsim, so we will have to wait until it comes back. I have it installed but my inability to do anything with paintkits, other than deleting them, is legendary so of course I didn't keep it.kungfuman wrote:Thanks for your input Steve![]()

The paintkit is included in elvis_b707-320.zip, so if there is anybody out there with it dormant on their HDs can they let us know please.
