This isnt so much military, but there was a terrible crash at the races. P-51 nosed into the crowd, multiple dead with some of my photographer friends still unnaccounted for

. Hoping to hear from them soon. Jimmy Leeward was the pilot and he was an amazing pilot.

It's been a horrible year. I've always wanted to go to Reno for the races. Not so sure now.

some good news, all my friends are accounted for. Still prayers for those lost.
Here is a pic of the airplane as it was nosing over into the crowd. You can see a stabalizing trim missing and smoke under the airplane.

Another image of the elevator trim tab....
Pilots on the professional pilot web board that I belong to are saying that at this kind of speed, that kind of failure is unrecoverable.....
RIP.

Just caught this from overseas watching the news coverage online. I agree, Reno will not be the same, one of the top air shows I wanted to attend someday just for races alone.

A shame that in German online media people discuss about capabilities of a 74 year old to fly an aircraft. He died and possibly it was not his fault

I know nothing about real life flying at all, but I don't think it matters if you are the best pilot in the world-something goes seriously wrong with your plane at high speed that low off the ground, you don't have a hope, especially if you're upside down.
RIP to all the victims.
