That sure brings back some fond memories. I was into Falcon in a big way from its original release for the PC, to Falcon 3 and finally Falcon 4. I may have to check this new version out. Thanks for the heads up. :)

Nice! Just a pity that you have to be an F-16 pilot if you want to play with Falcon 4.0! That's why I gave it up!

I've downloaded Falcon 4.0 / Benchmark Sims 4.32 and am in the process of upgrading my current HOTAS Cougar with the Win7 64 bit versions of the CCP and Foxy, U2NXT gimbals and Hall sensors before I plunge back into the immersive world of the Falcon 4 F-16. I may even buy a second used HOTAS Cougar and upgrade it to either the Force Sensor Stick base (FSSB) or Force Controlled Cougar (FCC) modifications to simulate the F-16 even more realistically.

Of course if I really want to get back into combat sims again I should also buy the new HOTAS Warthog and DCS A-10C Warthog simulation. I've heard that it is an awesome combination.

If they can get some of the same various gameplay like LOMAC did, bringing in naval aviation to make it a more rounded sim.

James,

That is certainly one of the weaknesses of Falcon 4, but from the very beginning the Falcon franchise was focused on just being an F-16 simulator.

Wouldn't it be great if a realistic F-18 simulation on the order of Falcon 4 and DCS A-10C Warthog would be released with carrier based operations?

Mike

I have the DCS A-10C Warthog game , and thinking of getting the warthog controller. Game is very good (hard though)
Really needs the controller to make it more accessible, and a good joystick

Barry,

I have a friend that has the DCS A-10C Warthog game along with the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog and he loves it so much he is currently making an outstanding instrument panel for it. Falcon 4 was also very difficult when I started with it and my HOTAS Cougar really made a big difference. I haven't played with it much since I got immersed in military AI for FS9, but the new Benchmark Sims 4.32 sounds too good to not try it out. Ironically one of the weaknesses of Benchmark Sims 4.32 is reported to be unrealistic looking dissimilar AI. Go figure!

There is also a download for the iPad , that turns it to a mfd for dcs-a10
Looks amazing, you can zoom and pan.. Think there is a link for it on the main dcs site..

Barry,

That sounds great. I wish they had the same thing for Falcon 4/Benchmark Sims 4.32, but then I would have to buy a couple of Ipads.

My upgrades to my HOTAS Cougar are in full swing. My new Uber2 NXT gimbals are in route from Australia and I have ordered the Hall sensor kits for both the joystick and the throttle along with a stiction fix for the throttle.

Of course in an ideal world I would also buy the HOTAS Warthog for the DCS A-10C combat sim, but I am not ready to cross that bridge quite yet, so I think I'll wait to see how you like yours when you get it.

Meanwhile I am trying to find a second HOTAS Cougar at a reasonable price. I've found a DIY Force Sensor upgrade for the joystick that I would like to try. Then I could use my gimbaled joystick for FS9 and FSX and the Force Sensor joystick for Falcon 4/Benchmark Sims 4.32 and other combat sims. 8)

Barry,

I just checked this out and it actually portrays both of the A-10C MFD's and more on the iPad and all the associated switches and buttons are active on the touch screen. What an awesome idea! 8)

Now if we could get this for FS9, FSX and/or the Falcon 4 derivatives.

Below is a link to a SimHQ review of the new Falcon 4 / BMS 4.32 sim. Be sure and watch the video at the end and take note of the carrier operations included with a flyable F-18. There is also a clip of an F-14 carrier launch and flight, but I am not sure whether the F-14 is flyable or not. 8)

I'm currently brushing up on my rusty old F-16 flying skills with Falcon 4 Allied Force before venturing into the new and drastically improved world of Falcon 4.0 / BMS 4.32.

Great review as always from the guys at SimHQ. Is there a boxed version? I downloaded the massive beta DCS A-10C and never got it working right. Having a good time now flying the Iris and Aerosoft Vipers in FSX, but need all weapons, refueling and a working Sniper pod to be half as good as Falcon. The carrier aviation looks good enough as it is still a F-16 sim, hope the mods in the future push out a Super Hornet.

Falcon 4 / Benchmark Sims 4.32 is free and only available as a torrent download. The zip file containing the installer and data is 686 Mb, so it is a relatively large download. :(

I've been away from any real life or sim flying for several years now and have decided that since I can't fly for real any more due to medical certificate problems, that I would jump back into sim flying. My goal is to return to the same skill level I once had in both MSFS and Falcon 4, first Allied Force and then BMS 4.32, and then tackle the DCS A-10C. By that time maybe DCS will have their rumored F-?? sim out. :D
