Hi
I've noted in the newer scenery, that the road surface blends much better than what you get using AFCAD. how is this
done? I use AFCAD and Abacuss EZY Scenery, but I can't find any road surface.

I suppose you mean the roads that are made as VTP lines using SBuilder.
There are some excellent tutorials about scenery design with Sbuilder:

Look for "Landclass and Roads".

Roads added via AFCAD or ADE are actually taxiways which sit on top of the ground textures of an airbase or surrounding terrain, so while they are highly visible, they don't quite look right because they use a higher resolution texture set from the main FS9/Texture folder.
Roads added with SBuilder are actually lines of texture that are added on top of the ground texture as well but they use the same texture resolution as the ground textures so they actually blend into the surrounding terrain more naturally than the AFCAD type lines/roads.
The other advantage is that roads added using SBuilder can be given night texturing as well.
Adding lines in SBuilder is very easy, I really should do a quick tutorial on them because you can also use that function to add power lines, rivers and streams as well in addition to roads.

I assume this is for FS9. ADEX will add terrain roads in the same way they can be added in SBuilderX. For FS9 SBuilder is needed

I'm glad you cleared that up. I was thinking of looking at SBuilder...ugh!

But when you reduce road from default 30m wide to some 6 meters , it loses on quality that is why I don't use sBuilder for roads in Air Bases.

True but using taxiways as roads causes elevation problems with the surrounding terrain which will not happen if you add them as VTPL lines with SBuilder.
