FS Repaint Problem

I've been making some edits of Graham's excellent repaints of the JAI F-5 for my own personal use at NAS Fallon. All textures files were saved as Extended Bitmap DXT3 in DXTbmp with alpha channel.

When trying to view in FS Repaint V.2 all I get is a gray model. I did add the "jai_f-5e_l" and "refl_texture" files in to the texture folders.

Texture folder for this paint is "texture.ghost01"

Here's my first entry into the config file
[fltsim.0]
title=MAIW_JAI_F5N_USN_VFC-13_Ghost_01
sim=JAI_F-5E_AI_Only
model=AIM_practice_USN
texture=ghost01
atc_airline=SAINTS
atc_parking_types=MIL_COMBAT
atc_parking_codes=VC13
ui_manufacturer=MAIW Jake Burrus AI
ui_type=Northrop F-5N Tiger
ui_variation=USN - VFC-13, Ghost 01, NAS Fallon
description=Repaint by Graham King for Military AI Works. Edit by Grape

I just got a haircut so pulling my hair out is not an option. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Grape

Does the aircraft show up correctly in flightsim?

Haven't even got around to making flight plans or anything yet.

try saving the texture as a Extended 32 bit 888-8, and see if anything show's up ?

Tried that Ray. Same result. I've always used Extended Bitmap DXT3 before. When I've had this problem before it was usually because something was mis-spelled somewhere. I've checked and rechecked until my eyes hurt. Probably something that's staring me right in the face but I can't see it.

Why not try it in FS first by taking off the Aircraft Type as AI in the Air file (change from 2 to 0) to see if it shows up correctly. If it doesn't show then it has got to be some spelling error. Are you using the right texture for the aircraft model?

Believe it or not the most common cause of this, when messing around with scheme names (done it myself several times), is that you forget to put 'texture.' in front of the texture name.

Ye like steve says does your texture folder read 'texture.'?

if it is not that just try it in FS and see what you get

If the model is all grey in FS Repaint then the program is not picking up the texture. Either the texture folder is incorrect or the texture file have the wrong name.

jai_f-5e_t.bmp
jai_f-5e_l.bmp
refl_texture.bmp

although one that matters is jai_f-5e_t.bmp.

Silly question, you are using the F-5E and not the F-5F.

I feel like such an IDIOT! I knew it was something that was right before my poor eyes. It was in the naming of the texture folders.

Example: texture=ghost01 in the config and texture.ghost 01 as the folder title. Damn spaces will mess everything up.

Thanks to all for your help and for the contributions all of you make.

I bet it was staring at goats that caused it.

Grape,
Maybe you could "totally redeem yourself" and show us the paints, I've got an empty flightline at Fallon between the NSAWC Vipers and Hornets.

All I did was change the numbers on the paints that Graham did. The hard part, if you want to call it that, is finding fairly current photos so you can tell which number to put on which scheme.

Completely understand, the Saints do not seem to be big travelers as much as VFC-111 is, -111 is always on Fencecheck at some x-country fuel-n-go.
