Huey over Dorset, UK

Saw a camo'd Huey and a Army Lynx low over the A 31 near Wimborne yesterday. The landed in the grounds of a country house and then took off after a few minutes. Both times the Lynx was following the Huey. A most unusual event!

Technically not a Huey, it's an Army Air Corps
Bell 212. Following the return of 25 Flt's aircraft from Belize they're located at Middle Wallop and will be used for UK tasking. I expect there will be a lot more sightings of them this year.

Ah right. This one had a day-glo orange section on it. I'll keep 'em peeled

Yep, they all have those dayglo panels. With the Olympics coming up I think they'll be getting tasked a lot in support of security ops. You may even see a few of the yellow and black 412s from my neck of the woods.
The AAC still has 212s in Brunei, they were going to send the Belize ones to Canada to support the Army training there, but politics got in the way.

As we've got the sailing at Weymouth and a combined Special Forces base in Poole then I guess will be seeing a lot of them. Must stop humming the Ride of the Valkyries when I see them though!

Nah, more likely the theme from the Muppet Show.

I would have thought Portland would be a more logical helo base for the sailing cover

No military presence at Portland at all Even the CG Helicopter base is scheduled to be closed. HMS Ocean is tasked for cover during the Olympics but the base in Poole is the home to the SBS and a shadowy outfit which are known locally as the "funnies". Scruffy individuals that drive around in white vans and trucks. I only know this as we doing the servicing on their vehicles.
