I know this has been around for some time, but I would never try that in the US. Out in the open,you can pretty much go as low as you want as long as you can safety react to a engine failure and not cause damage to any people or property. Open water or sparsely populated areas, 500ft from any person, property, or ships. With the proliferation of cameras on just about every cell phone, I would think twice about any low fly-by.
On that note, the #1 reason I love flying helicopters, low and fast. (easy in 3rd world countries that have limited cell towers, powerlines, or trees for that matter)
