Just to let you guys know that SBAI have just released the freeware Mi-26 NATO codename Halo.
You can get it from here http://sbai.kiev.ua/index.php?action_sk ... EngVersion

It comes with a PK so hopefully we will get some examples of this beast from around the world.

Very cool indeed. The good thing is you won't necessarily need special AFD's for this one. The beast is so heavy it needs a rolling take-off.

Here's a cool shot together with that other Russian beast at Kabul in 2008: the An-124 on a Red Cross charter with power generators and the Mi-26 taxiing out to cargo-sling the boxes to the construction site of a new hospital. Heavy team work!

Great news, and Greg's shows the same one I have seen while deployed. To finally see one up close, BIG!
If these can be used in true MAIW packs, that opens a whole world of rotary AI.

Definitely a great addition!
I had the chance to see two examples of this beast from an aircraft window at Charleroi in Belgium, it was a big surprise!

Indeed, there used to be 2 Mi-26's at EBCI Charleroi and 1 at EBLG Liège from Skytech, but they were grounded by the EU. I remember it was a big item on the daily news when they were all transported over the road to be put on a ship back to Russia. You can still see them sitting at the port of Bruges on Google maps.

Now all we need is some flightplans to get them in the sim.

When SBAI released the Mi-8, UTT made several repaints and after a few days released the flightplans too.
They needed some heliport afcad, though, and I could not understand where to get them.

The heliport afcads are all in the full (payware) package of the Mi-8T, there's a text file with a list of the various scenery they were made to fit.

Edit: I stand corrected on that, there's a whole bunch of airports referenced that aren't in the Mi-8T pack.

I mentioned to my buddy (Greg) that I would love to see a lot of Mi-8 & Mi-26 AI's at Khanty Mansiysk (USHH), so he altered that AFCAD, and created a separate Traffic file for it. Ya'll are more than welcome to it....CLICK HERE to DOWNLOAD

Just in case anybody is interested there are paints on the UTT website for the Venezuelan Army machines. No flightplans are included but they are individual paints.
