I highly recommend the same thing, however try it in the Swiss Alps, with a good terrain mesh of course, and set the vis to either 3 or 5 miles. Lots of fun...........

I used to always enjoy the short haul flight from Kaohsiung Intl in Taiwan to Taipei. South to North, even better low level in a tornado, over the mountains.

Most of the time I'm just using it to watch Ai. However when I do fly I like to just do short hops in something from the RAF (Tucano,Tornado etc) which somwhat mirror similar movements I've seen in reality.

I fly a lot of instrument approachs in bad weather into some hard places (mountains etc). It keeps my approach skills up and I love the challenge to hit it perfect. Nothing more rewarding then breaking out 1/2 to 1/4 mile from touchdown with low ceiling, gusty winds, rain, snow etc.. Add a little traffic in there and you can get a real challenge.....

Although this thread is some days old I would like to share what I usually do after launching FS9.
1. Civil
maximum flight distance around 1.500 miles (most flown route EDDV - LEPA; sometimes a stop at LOWW) flying a B738 real weather enabled or bad weather conditions
2. Military
short flights, mainly to follow AI (TNGs) or flying low level using the Tornado (guess why

)
3. Helos
flying around an airport (mainly after scenery/AI additions) to take a look at facilities/AI using the default Bell

Military: Usually taking the Viper online and flying some European hops.
Civil: I fly bush with a group out of Brazil. Been all over the globe with these guys.

I don't fly much anymore but when I do I like to fly the super hornet E, F, and G models made by team FS KBT. I also like to fly Kirk Olsson's F-16. I like to take off from a base then fly to near by airports for some touch and go's then fly back to the base.
I also fly business jets and airlines (nothing bigger than the 757)

Civil: I like to canyon bust as well, but prefer to use C-172, and see just how much of the canyon I can fly without making an exit upwards because of too sharp a turn or too narrow a length of canyon. I've managed to start at Boulder Dam and fly the canyon all across the top of Arizona with only a couple of exits. Some very close calls, and nearly too steep turns, but with practice it's possible. I of course have crash detect on and max real settings, except for never ending fuel supply. I have good textures and mesh for spectacular views of course. Also, I like to fly the Baron, and occasionally the King Air for longer trips. Haven't gotten into the heavys much yet. I really like dead reckoning navigation, seeing as how I have the addons that make that possible, do that in both civil and mil, ranging from Texas to Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona. (Try El Paso to Albuquerque for instance - nice flight, good terrain, should not get lost, just follow mountain ranges, using cheap road atlas from Wally World.)
Military: Mostly the twins - B-25, A-26, E2 & C-47. Haven't found a jet that I especially like yet, but give a try to one now and again. F-86 is my next up for tryout! Actually, I think that I'll fly jets more once I get new stick - my MS FFB is no longer making me even a little happy. Thinking X-52 Pro, but will be a while because of cost.
