Took a step to the dark side!

After having FSX for a number of years, I finally decided to install it and the SDK's.

It may be the ONLY way to get around some problems -
1) We can attach effects to models in FSDS. Means we can attach an effect NAV light to a folding wing and it moves with the wing. For helos we can attach all the lights. No more giant fireballs using the default MSFS lights.
2) By linking them to parent polys we can use XML on the polys to hide them, so could use a beacon fx with XML to turn it into daytime taxi lights.
3) May give us access to the A:AI TRAFFIC STATE variable.
4) Has multiple smoke systems IF we can get AI to respond to a K event.

Still to find out -
Bones - supported in FSDS? If so can we use them for wing flexing without gaps?

You could kill to birds with one stone here if you make you first FSX model an Osprey...kind of folding wings and a helicopter of sorts.

Mark,

Kevin and I worked on a prototype Osprey for FS9 a few years ago and it was looking pretty good. I may have to load it up again and add some of my latest "magic" to the AI FDE and see how much its AI flight performance improves.

It's on the "To Do" list, but unfortunately down near the bottom at the moment. :(

As long as it is not falling off that list this is perfect, Mike
I believe every model is on a list, only my SR-71 will never be made :smt022

Guilty :-(

On a different note -
Before any of us go and produce an FSX ONLY model, it may be a good idea to get a poll going on the general forums along the lines of -

Which Version of MSFS do you use?
FS9 only
FSX only
I have both

Don't want to alienate a huge chunk of our base if they have FS9 only!

Maybe if they select FS9 only, there could be an extra question - do you plan on buying FSX.
