I'm taking my digital camera, but I am not sure exactly what the agenda will be. This seems to be a late notice open house associated with the contention over the F-35's potentially being based here in the future. They are returning from their morning training sorties at the moment, so hopefully we'll see some afternoon departures or flybys. I'm heading over now, so will post additional info later with photos if possible.

I spent 3.5+ hours at this VT ANG Open House and was extremely impressed with the very high level of professionalism, motivation, knowledge and courtesy demonstrated by all the members of 158th FW that I talked with. No question was too difficult, too irrelevant and/or too controversial for them too discuss with me. Being a former member of the VT ANG I was fortunate enough to have a one on one discussion with both the current and former 158th FW commanders. These were two very impressive and extremely professional individuals and were quite helpful in steering me in the right direction in my quest for information on the F-102's and F-4D's once flown by the VT ANG.

Every airman that I met, from recruit to colonel, certainly demonstrated to me why the 158th FW is considered one of the elite flying units in all of the ANG and USAF and are on track to be the first ANG FW to fly the F-35.

I took 70 digital photos, but will only post a few below. The rest are of details that may be of use in some current and potential future projects.

Yes, the Green Mountain Boy (Minuteman) has always faced forward on both sides of the vertical tails of the VT ANG F-16C/D's. Maybe they should have it animated so he can check his six occasionally.

I see these aircrafts wear the white walkway strips on the fuselage.

Thanks Mike! Nice shots. Unfortunately I did not learn of the open house in time. Would have loved to have made it. Can't wait for the decision on the F-35s. I have a good feeling about this.
