Barbeque Sauce

I dont know if anyone is interested, but I have been trying to find the BBQ sauce that they used in the burgers at the old Mildenhall airshows. After trying loads from the Stateside Candy co (a place in the UK to get american brand stuff), I think that I have succeeded. I find that the Kraft thick & spicy is the nearest I have come to the Mildenhall one. On that note, what do others think is the best BBQ sauce? or if no one is really interested, this could be a really short thread.

That was always the second reason for attending the air fete each year so I'm definitely going to order some of that for the barbie. My face at the moment is branstons bbq'd sauce with honey, but another fave is the JD one, I think HP do that one.

Hi Daryl
Its just over £4:00 a throw I think (not cheap) & I dont know how much p&p?. Other good US BBQ sauces are Guy Fieri Bourbon +brown sugar & Kansas City, again quite expensive but really good.
I've not seen the Branston one, but I will keep an eye out for it & give it a try.

You might want to try your local Sainsbury superstore. They have occasion to stock American brands of sauces. I get A1 steak sauce from there and I use Budweiser Barbeque sauce, fro there, on my burgers. Well tasty.

That's enough guys!!!

I've gone through 2 shirts and a keyboard, since you started me salivating at the thought of "The Hall" Burgers and Dogs.

Don't forget the cans of Schlitz that you could only get from there. I seem to remember the rule where one burger got you one beer but quite often you could get a two for one deal. :D

This was the days before Bud was ever sighted over here.

Besides the excellent burgers (notice the plural) a memory that has remained since the late 80s with me is the guy in the car park shouting "Air Fete Stickers" . I'm sure it was the same guy every year.

Quite a lot of the guys who worked on the Car Parks, were ANG guys from the States, doing their 2 week tour commitment. Spoke with one chap who reckoned it was a cool duty. 3-4 days on the Car Parks/FOD Plod etc, then down "The Smoke" for some sight-seeing before RTB.

Big confession time. Went to the Hall Airshow........................on my Honeymoon!!

OK, If I can get hold of the Kraft Bullseye & KC Masterpiece sauces, I will give them a go. I must admit though, that the sauce mentioned at the start of the thread did taste the nearest I have come to the Mildenhall one (Kraft thick & spicy).
Am I right in saying that they do the same sauce at Faiford as they did at Mildenhall?. Anyway, Im off to the Stateside candy co shop (10 mins up the road- how lucky is that) to try & get the 2 x new sauces mentioned.

KC and Bull's Eye are both good sauces. The Jack Daniel's sauces aren't too bad either. Never liked the Kraft sauces they never tasted right to me.

Good luck Ralph. When I checked their website, the "original" KC was out of stock.

£2.89, thats a good price. Not sure how much the P&P is ? .Thanks Stewart for pointing me to this site. I will re post when I have tried the said sauces.
The problem is, the British burgers you get in the supermarkets don't taste anything like the American ones at Mildenhall. I will have to visit my local butcher & see what he can do.
Damn, I feel really hungry now & still have a few hours left at work.

Cheers all

My favorite is Stubb's Moppin' Sauce. With a name like that, you know it's gonna be good! :)

That does sound good. I will see if I can get hold of that. I know that you can get Stubbs sauces in the UK, not sure about mopping sauce though?

For those of you in the UK who can get the channel and who like BBQ (well watching it anyway) can I recommend the Channel "Food Network" most evenings.

Try and catch a show called Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Safety Tip: Have munchies handy to address severe saliva attacks!!

Jason: Many thanks for the offer, but it looks like Daryl has found it, so I will order from the UK store, best regards, Dave.

Stew: Yeah, me & my daughter watch that channel all the time. Man vs Food & the new one, you gotta eat here are great. Iv'e been trying to find Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for a while now. Is it on & iv'e just missed it?. As I stated in an earlier post, Guy Fieri's sauces are really good if you can get hold of them, although his Pacific mop & slop sauce was not to my liking.
