Zeltweg Airbase doesn't have ILS-path, why IFR-approach?

Before installation of the new Zeltweg Airbase-package I checked my FS9-setup and found only the stock version of LOXZ. Then, the MAIW-installation and scenery assignment worked fine and I could see and enjoy the new airport and the AI-airplanes.

However, when I let FS9 create a flight plan from Innsbruck to Zeltweg ATC told my soon after liftoff, that I should prepare for an IFR-approach to runway 26. Errr :? , the MAIW-Zeltweg-scenery doesn't have an ILS-path. :?: I check this with the AFCAD-tool. Whey does ATC demand an IFR-approach instead of a visual approach? Where is the mistake?

Zeltweg has an NDB approach, which is a non precision IFR approach.

I admit, I don't have much experience with "non precision IFR approaches", but when clicking on LOXZ in the FS9-map to show the airport information at least an ILS-frequency should show beside the runway, or not?

There is no ILS at this airport. An ILS is a specific type of approach. The approach would be shot off a nearby non directional beacon. Here's the FAA instrument procedure handbook which is far better at answering your questions than I ever could be.

I designed the approach for Zeltweg. The actual airport does not have an ILS, but in order to allow the aircraft to land correctly in FS9 in an area surrounded by mountains the only way is to create a fake ILS approach, which does not actually have an ILS cone, and in fact you can't see it on the map.

Dear James,

In FS9 I compared the AFCADs of the stock- und your MAIW-version of Zeltweg AB (LOXZ). One difference shows in the "Runway Properties" down left in "Base Ende" of runway 8, where in the file MAIW_LOXZ_ADE9_Custom.BGL "Closed for Landing" and "Closed for Takeoff" are checkmarked.

These checks are missing in the stock-file of LOXZ. I decided to remove the checks from the MAIW-file mentioned above. Then ATC allows visual approach to LOXZ again as in stock without having to miss the MAIW-scenery. I assume no liability for this, but it works for takeoff and landings of the MAIW-aircrafts as well.

Our group is AI group and we are trying to make AI realistic as much as we can.Sometimes adding of fake IFR approach is an option. Also we are trying to keep flight conditions to real one but AI engine has its limits so some changes are must.I am not accepting complaints other than behavior of AI,sorry. At least I think that you get better than ever scenery for LOXZ and for free.

P.S.Dont take this post as atacking on your personality, this is friendly reminder and explanation.
