RAF Chinooks

Hey

I was scouting round the southern UK today (on fsx you understand ( I really need to get out more)) and noticed that there is only one lonely chinook squeezed into the fuel box at odiham and nothing around the rest of the base. I thought this was a bit weird for the chinook base. Then I rememberd that I have a massive amount of chinooks at boscombe down. The question the is, is there something wrong with my flightplans because I'm sure that you knowledgable folks meant for the chinooks to be at Odiham?

Another question which is less pressing is, has any attempt been made at the DHFS at Shawbury or whatever it is? I've searched the internet a couple of times in the hope there was but couldn't find anything.

Thanks very much

OK scrap the first question it appears I just hadn't activated the scenery. Rookie error.

Ok next problem (story of my life :D ) I went and had a look in afghanistan at camp bastion. I was very happy to see chinooks and apaches in the area but... and this is definetly not a moan because I know it was created for fs9 but... Camp bastion is about 220ft of the deck. Its great for a captain scarlet airfield but not so good for this. Is there anyway this can be fixed?

The best thing for you to do is to use ADE and change the elevation of the airfield

By the way the Chinnoks at Boscombe were all the H.3's that used to be in store

Must update some flightplans

Yes theres still a huge amount of chinooks at boscombe so that must be as you said. The elevation thing is weird. If I start my flight at bastion its is as said about 220ft above the ground. But it seems that if I come back into the area from elsewhere its fine. I don't know what the problem there is.

Thanks very much

That particular problem occurs if you have 2 heights for the same area I would check for two afcads, this is common if you have a scenery that is set higher or lower than the default scenery. It is normally a purely afcad conflict and quite often when an addon one is in conflict with the default one.

The only thing I could find was an exclude file for the main camp bastion. Should I get rid of it.

I would normally say that it could be the difference in height of the FS9 and FSX scenery, but that alone would not account for the different heights of arrivals and departures. There may be a different reason but I don't know of one other than two different afcads.

Does FSX have a default airfield for the Camp?

The key thing here is that we are guessing as we are still FS9 and are working on principles. It might be worth asking other FSXers in the FSX forum if they had any difficulties, like yourself, and what did they do to fix it. You may get the answer quicker than me guessing.

Thanks I will have a look for an fsx default but failing that I will pop over to the fsx forum.
