AMC West C-5 Question

Using Win 7 and FSX. Installed the C-5 from this download. Taxi's out perfect. Starts taking off and the nose goes into the runway. Finally it lifts off (past runway already). Banks to the right - and nose dives into the ground. Is windows 7 causing this problem - or is there a update or correction I can make in this aircraft.cfg?
Other 3rd party AI's work fine. Use AIFP2 to create flight plan.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Well one thing I can say is that we can't blame MS for this one, unfortunately.

Can you confirm that the cfg file is completely untouched by human hand? The thing about the config files is that they are designed to work perfectly in FS9. Now some parms did change from FS9 to FSX but it would surprise me if this caused the issue for the reason that nobody else has reported the problem and I can't believe that no FSXer has used the model before.

I am not saying that it can't be an FSX only issue, just that at this moment nobody else has reported it. It sounds like a balance issue and it is possible that some combinations of parms are upsetting it in FSX. Trying re-adding the cfg and air file again from the archive to rule out a file corruption.

FireBird, how do I confirm the cfg? Is it permissible to make a copy and paste it here in the forum? Don't want to use up a lot of space. All I can say is it is the one I got with the download. I did search for answers prior writing this message. Another one of these "Only To Me" issues!
Appreciate your reply

flynby,

If you take the aircraft.cfg from the package then it is okay. The C-5 is behaving great for me in FSX. Since you are doing your flight plans yourself - can you just make a test to see how she is doing at any other airport?

As Martin said, if you are using the cfg completely unaltered then that is what I mean. Just try and unzipping that file fresh to ensure that it didn't get corrupted, same as the air file.

Gentlemen, here is what I have done. Let me say first of all my flightplans are created with AIFP2 update. I used a 4 hour flightplan on both.

Today I downloaded the MAIW West Coast C17s. I redid my flightplans and used the C-17's in place of the C-5's at the same airport. The C-17's flew perfect. Again, using windows 7 pro and FSX. What I found interesting is this: My flightplan altitude on both C-5's and C-17's are 100 ft. The C-5 aircraft got to a altitude of 5550 ft - then nosedived - and leveled off at 2800 ft for a few seconds - and crashed into the ground. The C-17's flew at 2800 ft continuously until getting on the approach and landed perfect. Found that odd on the different alt.

I did try to create a new flightplan for the C-5's at a different location. I started getting errors trying to shut down FSX. The errors were APPCRASH and BEX.
Would this be enough information to you indicating whether or not I should reinstall FSX?
Thanks for your help...

Something doesn't sound well there, but I would have expected a problem with the C-17 as well.
As for re-installing FSX, I can't say, as I don't use it.

I created the MAIW PSAI C-5A FDE for FS9 use, but I just verified that it works fine in FSX by having one fly a nice IFR circuit around KBTV. :D

However, my limited experience with FSX so far leads me to believe that FSX significantly shortens the takeoff and landing rolls for some if not all FS9 AI ported over to FSX or at least it did for my VT ANG HTAI F-16C/D's.
