A little help required to overcome my stupidity

Gents,
I have been trying to create a scenery, based upon a bgl, using ADE and it seems to look OK but the problem that I am having is that no aircraft show up in the parking spots.

Now not all are connected up yet, but that shouldn't prevent any showing up. It is not the models as they show up in other locations, plus when I add ones that have been tested in other bases they too do not appear. No errors in AIAE not ACA2005.

I must be doing something wrong with my compile, any suggestions?

I can check it if you like, another pair of eyes and all that?

Ta.
ADE source sent to you.

I am not going to say that its a problem with ADE, I think it's a SUE (Stupid User Error). I just want to find it.

I believe that one must have a complete runway connected at each end to a taxiway which is itself connected to correctly identified parking spots.

If the parking spots are not connected to a taxiway, or are mis-labelled, the AI acft cannot use them.

There are 7 spots not connected up but there are over 40 connected now. The error checker only shows those 7 unconnected spots.
I would think that it was the model if I hadn't seen them at other bases and neither AIAE nor ACA2005 finds any errors.

There's the painstakingly obvious one: Does the radius of the aircraft fit in the parking spots?

Yep, and there are bigger radius there as well.
Fortunately, it has at least two of us stumped at the moment.

Tomorrow I will start a concerted campaign to throw in other aircraft to see what turns up there, if anything.

Hi Pete,
The plans are published ones and I haven't heard anybody else having a problem with them.
As for ATC, yes there is ATC but even w/o any it shouldn't stop aircraft appearing there. I can see that aircraft may disappear if there is something wrong, at the time of flight.

I do appreciate these questions as all possibles have to be covered.

I just install Dale's package and all goes well (like in my PM reply). The 226 OCU planes don't filled their apron because the parking radius is too small (8,5m insted of 18m, at least) but they fill the other parkings. The taxiing, take off and landings are OK.

That is weird. So why doesn't it work for me.
The Lightnings I altered to 8m parking radius from their original 18m, plus they don't appear in the 20m spots. Maybe it is the aircraft but none of the usual tools give any errors.

I will have to look at the aircraft further.

EUREKA!!! I have finally found what the problem is. It was nothing to do with the scenery at all. It was the traffic file.

To fit my personal system I rename the text files to 'Aircraft_RETRO_RAF_Middleton St. George_EGNV_Lightning.txt' etc.
This compiles nicely as 'Traffic_RETRO_RAF_Middleton St. George_EGNV_Lightning.bgl' Every checker checks it OK and finds no error however FS9 will not load it.

Why? Because of the '.' after 'St' that is why. FS9 gets confused and ignores it. When I renamed the files to 'Aircraft_RETRO_RAF_Middleton St George_EGNV_Lightning' and recompiled everything appeared.

Thanks to all that helped me.

Once again, life is a learning curve.

Now if only I had some aerial shots of Middleton back in the day and maybe some AI Javelins then I might be able to make some decent scenery, still we can't have everything can we. :D

Reading between the lines, I take it you've done a Middleton package with Lightnings.

Any chance you could post it up to share, it sounds like a lovely addition to the "Retro" world.

Many thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,
I can't take the credit as it has already been done and released by Dale as part of his package a week ago.
