I'm back after a 1 1/2 year break. Like to get started on something no one is currently working on. Something like a one type aircraft base to clean the rust off. Anybody doing a Shaw AFB pack. Let me know what you think.
3 squadrons
72 aircraft
210 to 220 sorties per day
accurate afcad using Google earth and airfield charts.
maybe even add some Runway12 Scenery
Some quick shots below of what I started. Jets will have correct Serial # with no duplicates if possible.

To answer your question, Yes there is a MAIW Shaw package that's basically done and just awaiting proper Beta testing. By all means though, don't stop designing yours.
We've said it many times already around here, we can never have too much of a good thing.

210 to 220 sorties per day? Man you are really pushing 72 Vipers to meet that sortie rate. I'm at Seymour Johnson AFB. We have 4 Sq of strike eagles (94 total) and we normally fly at 10 turn 8 for each Sq, each day. That comes to 72 per day. If we hot pit the morning goes in the Ops Sq (335 and 336 FS), we can bring that up to 92.
Cheers

Okay. Sounds good. I will wait that package and do something diffrent. Is there a list somewhere on what needs to be done or what is in work. Or would someone kike to suggest something.
Is there a link to the SHAW thread...I could help wth some testing if needed.

That's all you fly there. At Osan we fly 14 front piting 12. Next go at night basically the same. both A-10s and F-16's about the same. Gets us about 50-52 sorties per Sqrdn per day. total.....100-104. In order to add the jets as AI in FS9 they will have to fly.......
75 jets fly out and back 2 times a day. Remember each out and back counts 2 sorties because the aircraft lands...So 2X2X75=300. Cut this down by flying some jets only once....210-220

I seen well over 200 sorties at Shaw when I was stationed there. Hill and Shaw were "test beds" used to set the sortie capability of the F-16s when it became available. We had just transitioned from RF-4s so it was a big change.

How about a Luke AFB pack? That's one hell of a lot of F-16's!

Hello to all! I am new to this site. Shaw would be a great Base to Update. Especially since I am from South Carolina. Does Fort Jackson Army Base have a Airport? Can some one do that?
Also, I am 45 and remember the Navel Training Base in Orlando, Florida. I would be more than happy to add someones military scenery to my FS2004 and later FSX, thus remove the current public airport. Is there scenery for that one?
Also, how can I find scenery for Seward Air Force Base, Murfeesboro/Smurna/Nashville, Tennessee area (it closed in 1970). How can I find scenery for Donaldson Center Air Force Base, Greenville, South Carolina that closed in 1962?
Something else to recreate would be the old Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Base shared the runway facilities with the Myrtle Beach Airport/jetport in the early 1980s. I wish that I could find this scenery for FS2004.
Thank You, for your kindness with my request.
Best Wishes to all,
Thomas

Yes in the AI world that is true but normally my guys go out, hit a low level or Dare Range then come back. That only counts as one sortie. So when I am doing my AI flight plans I usually have them head out to KNKT to shoot TNG then come back.

I was working on a Shaw scenery for a package. Its about 80% complete, but some of that is going to be redone. Now Lakenheath is virtually done, Im working on Miramar for the Topgun package and then I will be finishing Shaw. Whether Dan still wants it in his package is up to him but if not it will be released on avsim.
