GMAX scenery help request

Attention GMAX artists!!! I need to ask your help on something that's been driving me crazy for years. Currently the only way I can place scenery effects is to hand-write XML code into an effects file and then compile it - making tedious adjustments to each effect over and over to get them properly positioned. As you may know FSDS (The program I use) does NOT support attaching effects to scenery objects either in FS9 or for FSX.

Can someone PLEASE create for me (in GMAX) a simple object (cube?) with an effect attached? Ideally it would be a small (as small as possible) invisible object with the effect attached so that it pointed to '0' degrees. If you could create this model I should be able to edit it for whatever effect is needed. This would MASSIVELY decrease the time needed for effect placment and increase precision as well.

Hi John

I have created a simple cube with Apron_Flood_10 effect attached. Unfortunately I can't upload a .gmax file to the forum. Please let me know if you would like me to e-mail it to you,

In order to attach effects in GMAX you need to the attach tool plugin. This comes with the fs2004_sdk_gmax_setup.exe SDK. The instructions in the Gmax Attach Tool SDK are very good, and the tool is very easy to use.

Hope this helps

Derek

Hi Derek, if you zip it it should work on the forum better.

Derek I had to remove my GMAX some time ago as I could not get it to compile properly. Can you post the actual model file or put it in my folder on the FTP or email it to me directly (john.stinstrom2013@verizon.net) ?
