VC10 XR808 at Birmingham Airport July 2013
A glimpse of the final flight of RAF VC10 XR808 ("Bob") as it makes a high run over runway 15 at BHX en route to Bruntingthorpe on 29th July 2013.
A gorgeous sunny morning for this lovely old plane of 101 Squadron Brize Norton. Yesterday’s flight was also significant as it heralded the last flight of an original Type 1101 VC10. The remaining three RAF VC10s are conversions of the Standard and Super VC10 variants.

A very sad day indeed - the last of the classic British airliners, I suppose we were lucky to have them for this long. They got to a ripe old age.
As a point of interest, I flew in this aircraft on the 28th October 1983 for a 70 minute air experience flight (I kept my 3822!) Didn't stray too far away from Brize, but we did several rollers, and the weather wasn't too bad that day either.

Thanks for posting Mark.
