Hey guys. Been awhile for me. I am stumped. I never noticed this before, I have only been using Fs9 now for a month or so. I have never encountered this issue in FSX. I have no ai traffic anywhere above probably 8000ft, and my ai flights are disappearing mid flight all of the sudden. Searched the internet, stumped. I d/l the UKMIL Jet Provost, took off from Valley following a hawk t/1a. I get about 5 miles out, and she disappears on me mid flight! That made me look then I noticed, I have no planes above about 8 or 9 thousand feet. No high flying airliners, etc. I don't know if it has been like this the whole time but I think not because I have been chasing contrails earlier in the month so something happened. Have no idea what or how though. I think something changed, not sure what though. All of the sudden my ai traffic aren't even flying their whole flights.

I have never encountered anything like this before tonight. I have followed ai in FSX and FS9 across oceans and countries for hours, now I can't follow a hawk for more than 10 mins. What can cause this issue out of the blue like this? Need some advice.

Also, I keep getting messages saying FS9 cannot load John Young's harrier models, not sure if it is all of them or just some. Weird stuff. HELP!

That's unusual Dan. If you were to put an FS9-formatted traffic file into FSX, it will generally kill all AI aircraft in the catchment area. I don't know what happens though if you put an FSX-formatted file into FS9. It's because the day of the week coding is different in each and that confuses the sim. Is it possible that an FSX-formatted file is causing the problem or can that be ruled out?

I am gonna test that theory by pulling all my traffic files to see if that doesn't fix it .... weirdest thing I ever had happen.

How are you following the AI aircraft?

Either flying next to them or with traffic explorer. Everything disappears between 8 and 10,000 ft. I am nus,ot even loading any traffic above 10,000ft. Ridiculous. It has to be new because I have followed b-52's before for hours at 32000ft no issues. I even followed another F-18 from Miramar to Hawaii no issues. All of the sudden nothing over 10k.

I hate fs sometimes for these weird out of nowhere problems. I thought I was getting rid of all these weird headaches when I switched to FS9, and now this. UGH!

Are you sure that you loaded the FS9 version of john's Harrier into your FS9 and
not the FSX version. I had a play with those harriers only a couple of weeks ago
flying from Bruntingthorpe (My test field) to Leuchars and they behaved perfectly.

If you use Traffic explorer to follow aircraft then they will disappear approx 50nm from their start point. If you want to follow all the way on a flight then you need to use TVB.

Now it maybe that you have accidentally hit a set of parms that have caused the effect you have. Try renaming the fs9.cfg to saomething safe and letting a new clean one be generated. You can then copy any needed sections from the old to the new, such as joystick/key assignments.

No its not that. I already tried a rebuild of the cfg file and a rebuild of my traffic program. I am just frustrated with it, because I want to just fly without all of these mysterious hassles. If I take off, and follow any plane it disappears around 9500 ft. There are no aircraft loading even above 10000 ft, clearly there is an issue because there used to be more planes than I could even count in the sky since I run mytraffic, woai, and maiw. I also run my traffic at 100% because I like the realism of flying in a busy sky. Tlhere would be hundreds of planes loading, it used to take forever. Now there are maybe 8 planes enroute, all under 10kft.

I have no idea what would cause this - its really weird. And it really aggravates me.

Have you got VFR AI only selected?

Not even sure what that means. Where would I select that?
