Viewing Position

Hi all,
This may seem a daft question but on a previous FS9 setup I was able to move in closer to view an aircraft using the scroll on the mouse rather than going in view options etc. Anyway I have had to re install FS and now it doesn't do it, does anyone know how to do it?
