You have chosen wisely. I'd be the 2nd in line to buy a Viper if they made it.
USN guys do get invited down to Tyndall for Combat Archer, with Mark's FSAT F-16 repaints should be plenty to learn the APG-71 and have a few "Fox" calls.

Thanks Chris,
I thought someone had done some FSAT F-16 repaints, but I couldn't remember who.
Do you remember where and under what title those are available?

Mike,
On his page:

Thanks for reminding me, I got his paints but never put them in the sim, will probably just copy some QF-4 FP's or something. The good thing is FS Recorder works great with Tacpack, so you can actually move past the AI drone and chase Vipers over the gulf.

Thanks Chris,
I'll have to download those, but in the meantime I have been playing with the VT ANG F-16's.
Below is a screenshot of me flying my Super Bug along with a VT ANG F-16C over to the Falcon 1 MOA in upstate New York for some ACM fun.

Looks great man! Are you recording these in FSRecorder and then replaying the F-16 to simulate ACM with the F-18? I have been doing that too recently, but I find that its difficult to make a simulated dogfight work when you have to fly the adversary planes first and then follow with the F-18's. I still haven't figured out a better way of doing it, I have been trying to recreate FULCA 2002 with German Mig-29's doing a mock exercise with Swiss F-18's over a fictional no fly zone over Bern, and it takes 7 planes altogether so that is 7 seperate flights, and from what I have done it gets really complicated trying to maneuver all the planes to make it look right, like they are chasing and engaging each other, 4 offensive swiss F-18's trying egress 3 mig-29's. Once the migs break formation and start evading the f-18's, its almost impossible to keep up and fly it right.
Still learning. Have fun man!

Thanks Dan,
No, in that screenshot I am just flying in formation with one of several AI VTANG F-16C's that I flightplanned to fly round trips from KBTV in northern Vermont to the Falcon 1 MOA and/or the Adirondack Air to Ground Gunnery Range 48 in upstate New York.
I am a real newbie with the VRS F-18E and TacPack, so I am still on a steep learning curve. For now I will just be concentrating on BVR intercepts as I learn all the systems and switchology.
Your project sounds very interesting, but way beyond my current capabilities.

The way I do it is like this as an example:
I fly to a waypoint on a heading of 360 @ 12000ft for example once over the waypoint each aircraft will then turn in opposite directions of 90 degrees so one is then flying 270 and 090. I then fly for a couple of miles or about a minute depending on my mood

and then at the same time as each other both aircraft then reverse the direction they are flying so they are now pointing at each other, so I have now set up a head on engagement. Once both aircraft return to the waypoint the first aircraft being flown which in most cases is the simulated enemy starts a turn into the other aircraft but at a slow turn rate for about 5 to 10 seconds after that then start to turns a tighter turn and then do whatever to try and shake off the goody. The second aircraft which is the good guy turns into the adversary at the same time but at a sharper turn rate which means you then end up behind the adversary and then its just following him to simulate an engagement. Of course you can vary the headings and alt's if you like.
That's how I do it anyway. Sorry if its confusing.

Do they still offer a discount if you purchased the FS9 version? I need this in FSX

I have no idea. I haven't seen any indication that they do, but maybe one of the other guys knows.

I got the FS9 version when it was released a few years back. I absolutely love the Superbug.

Had it since FS9 as well and I don't remember any discount besides the beta Tacpack, which I ordered about a year prior to any beta release. Might have to PM VRS Varmint (Jon) for details.
