Lebanese Air Force

Yesterday on Avsim some scenery appeared for a Lebanese air base, Rayak. Whilst it may not be the biggest military hub in the world it is where the Lebanese Hunters are based.
There are plans for 3 Hunters included although no paints. I know that there is also a two seater active as well. Maybe a painter who has a spare minute will paint up the 4 current machines.
It might be quite useful as the LAF also includes Pumas, Magisters and Cessna Caravans in at least active storage state.
If anybody is interested all the Lebanese serials you can find them here:-

N.B. The two seat Hunter is L-286.

One slight thing, Daryl, all the single seaters are coded L-280. Other than that they seem fine.

I checked the 32bit textures as well and they have the same issue.

That's cleared it up nicely. Not only the record for getting a collection of paints out but also for getting the corrections out.
For those that are going to use Rogers plans I added this simple one for the T66, keeping to the same style as his others.
Code: Select all
AC#5,L286,10%,24Hr,VFR,13:00:00,TNG13:30:00,150,F,286,OLBA,13:33:00,14:00:00,150,F,286,OLRA

A couple of bits of info.
Giacomo has published some Hunter plans on Avsim which include a waypoints he has made. Plus it seems that Roger forgot the textures for the base. He sent me a test pack to check out that nothing was missed, which it wasn't, and he will load up the amended pack.
If anybody uses the Lebanese scenery enhancements that he mentions and finds that their aircraft are a couple of hundred feet below ground then let me know as I have a mod to fix that.

OK I had a problem with the default height and cured that. I had a problem with textures and cured that.
I have one big problem which I am currently unable to cure. Aircraft are appearing at the base parked fine. Aircraft land at the base and taxi to parking just fine. Aircraft call up ground pre-start up just fine, but then they just plane disappear before they call the tower.
I have run the error checker against the afcad through both AFX and ADE and there is nothing.
I have never seen this before. I am working on the premise that I have missed something really obvious and as as soon as I ask for help it will become clear.
Has anybody got a clue as to what is happening?

I've never had that before, is happening to all four Hunters? I'm still finding my feet with all this, but if your using the FP that Giacomo posted on Avsim I noticed that there is only a 5 sec delay between L282 and L284, would that cause it?

Yep, all 4 and it was also happening with the original plans.

Confirmed, the 5-sec delay is intentional because L282 and L284 are flying together. There is also a vertical separation of 100ft, which you can see in the raw flightplans provided in the zip. This way, if you happen to meet those Hunters in the sim, the aircraft will not "overlap"!
I've been making afcads and FPs for a long time and I noticed that even a very basic flightplan does not affect the behaviour of the aircrafts within the airport, since flightplans are meant to tell FS how the aircrafts should move
from airport to airport.
Generally, disappearing aircrafts are caused from small problems in the afcad/ADE file, such as hold short nodes missing or placed too far from the runway, missing taxiway links etc. So my checklist would be:
- are the parking spots all linked to a taxiway?
- are hold short nodes placed correctly (that is, not too far from the runway)?
- are the taxiway links on the runway marked as "runway" (=coloured in black)?
A futher check: are the airport coordinates used in the afcad matching the ones used in the flightplans (the ones I used have been taken from the default Airports.txt file, and I think Roger did the same).
As for the altitude problem, I noticed that OLRA is very close to OLBA, which also has elevation problems when installing the only available freeware scenery
http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php ... d=24765207
In the link above you will find a link to a fix, which requires downloading a program called jabbgl. This allows to change the elevation in the basic BGL manually, but we have to work out the correct elevation for OLRA.

The level problem for OLRA on my setup was fixed with changing AP957190.bgl to 970.2meters
You can try my modified one.

Sinking and floating AI.
To solve the problem.
Copy your AF2, ADE or AFX file.
Place the copy in Scenery\world\scenery with your traffic files.
Info from Gary Summons.

That area generally is a mess. I was trying to build the base there earlier, but gave up on fixing the altitude issue (and besides, I had other projects I wanted to play with).
