FSX help

I just installed FSX on a new computer and having an issue never had on old system. Whenever I attempt to make any changes on menu such as settings or options I get a CTD with no errors or explanation. Any ideas?

It sounds like it might be a security setting for your PC. Where is your Installation folder and what is your UAC setting?

I believe that is the issue. However I am the only user account on the computer and I can't seem to be able to configure the settings properly. I am still working on it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I believe a simple way around it is to uninstall FSX and reinstall to a different location, i.e. a different drive. UAC will certainly interfere if you use the default location on the C: drive, under Program Files (x86) or Program Files.

THE FSX COMPUTER SYSTEM: THE BIBLE - BY: NickN - CHAPTER 4, VERSE 2", it is already posted at MAIW forum but no matter.
Make a search there for the "uiautomationcore.dll", that's you file. There are 2 versions available, try and see which one works for you. I don't remember which one I am using but that's the solution.

this sounds dumb but where do i place the al aircraft as it isnt a self installer thanks in advance

Simple answer: "SimObjects/Airplanes"
Pro answer: anywhere you want and it can even be outside your FSX main folder or on another drive, as long as you add the folder to your simobjects.cfg file.

The good thing about FSX is you can make as many folders as you want inside the SimObjects folder: ie
Royal Air Force
United States Air Force
Spanish Air Force
etc
By doing it this way you wont get any ai in your Airplanes folder and its easier to manage. i edit mine in the FSX.cfg
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
So under misc you would add: (example)
SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\Royal Air Force
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\United States Air Force
SimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\Spanish Air Force
SimObjectPaths.9=SimObjects\Maiw
SimObjectPaths.10=SimObjects\TQL
it keeps everything nice and tidy
