New MAIW reference, AI reference, Aircraft reference & Poll

The migration from flat file to SQL is completed. The pages should perform considerably better on slow Internet and mobile devices. These pages have been redesigned:
I also acted on Don's suggestion and replaced the "Most missing AI Aircraft Poll" with a new one.
  • the poll history has been taken over
  • you can vote for as many aircraft as you want in one go
  • you can vote once every 24 hours
  • the result list is sortable
I hope you like the changes.

Everything looks & works great, Martin. The Missing AI vote page looks & works much better now. I like the results page, also.

Thanks much for this great reference site. I'm sure it will continue to see much use in the future. These fixes should only increase the traffic, I'm sure. :smt007

Martin in the most wanted poll, there are several models that are freely available.

Do you plan on taking those out of the poll?

This is something I wanted to ask you guys. so far I have kept them in as a sign that asked for aircraft really may be made eventually. But I don't know if that is stupid or not.

IMHO I think leaving them in keeps the "How about this one." questions down when a newbie reads the list. As there are new enthusiasts entering the group all the time, there will be those questions when they don't look in the reference list first. And, as Martin suggests, "kept them in as a sign that asked for aircraft really may be made eventually." Maybe blocking/removing the voting button for the "now available" ones?

I just went and checked the vote page again and saw that the ones I voted for yesterday were highlighted in bold print. I really like that also. Well done, Martin. Are these High lites going to stay for some specified time length? Good idea.

Could you mark the Beagle Bassett as in development. I'm just waiting for the FDE to be done prior to Beta testing. Thanks

Martin, just went and checked the vote for list again, after more than 24 hours, and the previous votes are no longer highlighted. IMHO they should remain highlighted, (Boldened) if that's possible. If not, so be it.

Don, after 24 hours (when you are allowed to vote again) the bold state goes away. No way around it.

Hi Martin. So be it. I guess it works as a notice you(we) can vote again. I still like what you've come up with.

How about another chopper. Westland Lynx/Super Lynx and it's replacement the Agusta/Westland AW159 Wildcat

I would like to see the PLAAF models, but I feel a few Western designs need to be addressed. The UH-1/Bell 212/412 series could fill both modern and retro AI slots for mil and government. Of course the H-60 series is still my vote.
