MAKS 2015

I was very fortunate to return to this event just outside Moscow again this year, & for once the weather gods smiled on us. It was perfect pretty much the entire time. Apart from shooting directly at the sun of course. I'll do this as I did my RIAT pics in bits at a time. MAKS is a trade show so the weekdays are usually slow burners with Friday being the exception when pretty much everything displayed. Here's Wednesday's efforts:

Very cool shots, Dan. What lens are you using?

It was a Sigma 100-300MM lens until it split into 3 pieces while I was over there

I'm surprised they got the Mi-26's in the air, apparently they're all pretty much grounded since Motor Sich has stopped supplying them with spares.

They flew the Mi-26's quite a bit really. Granted it was the T2 variant but there was an older one on static.
After my camera died last time I was in Russia I didn't want the same thing to happen again so I brought back up with me, so I didn't miss much really.

Great stuff Dan! Twice as nice! :smt003

What did you think of the T-50's maneuverability??

Yeah sorry about that, no idea what i did there.

The T-50 isn't bad but the Su-35 makes the T-50 look a Boeing 747, It displays pretty well considering it's not in Air Force service yet. I think the T-50 just about out manoeuvres the F-22 & the Typhoon, the Su-35 certainly does.

It's certainly interesting to see how the two sides have chosen to go as far as their fighters are concerned.

The West seems to prefer giant radars and low radar cross sections while the Russians seem to prefer super maneuverability and passive Infra-red tracking.

And then you have the F-35 which can't do any of that well.......
