How does AI act when flight planned to an airport where all runways are closed and no communications available? I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

Well I have not experienced this before but I have experienced airstrips with no comms.
I think I am right in saying that with no comms any aircraft broadcasts its intentions and it is up to others to avoid them. However, I am not entirely sure whether this was with absolutely no comms or whether it was without a tower.

maybe somebody else has more of an idea.

No comms is not an issue for AI. As Steve said, AI will apply the auto-info procedure (on a default FAA UNICOM frequency if I remember well).

As for their behaviour when all runways are closed, I'm not sure but I would expect one of the two following: the AI either disappears when starting the approach due to lack of runways (the same as if there would be no runways at all), or the AI aircraft lands on the closed runway anyway because the engine can't find an open one. To be tested.

Thanks for the replies. The airport in question is XBEL(Bellows) and has multiple runways, all closed. It also has no comms. I have flight planned some helos there for TnG's and just was just wondering if they will appear. I guess I will try to observe to find out.

Hi folks.

I've reworked the default Bellows AFB a while ago. Now I've add some freq's.
It's just simple stuff, nothing special but it works. If you should have installed my F-8A traffic file you're able to see a Gator coming in on Tuesday morning between 7:30 and 7:50 local time from Barber Point.

Have fun.
