Something I've been working on.

Welcome to Tehran Mehrabad Airport/Air Base.

It started as simply adding aprons for the military stuff (most IRIAF aircraft seem to visit if they aren't actually based there), then I got annoyed with the civvie parking so fixed that, then I thought it was still missing something so I've started added the boneyard(s). Still a work in progress but starting to look more and more complete. I just wish I had the skills to create custom buildings.

Southwest fighter apron (for visiting military aircraft as well as a few trainers and tigers):

You wait, the one they need will be the one right in the middle of the herd:

Boneyard north of the airport, apparently theres some kind of open air museum up this end:

Southwest apron, at least partly a boneyard. I haven't added much to this one yet:

I hope to release this when its finished (FSX only), with instructions for the boneyards in case people want to add what makes this place much more interesting. Its not the only Mehrabad scenery for FSX, and I'm nowhere near good enough to make it the best, but the others don't really have the military parking, and miss out the aircraft shelters in the northeast of the airfield completely, so it must have something going for it...

I did have some more images of the aircraft shelters for the MIG-29s as well as the whole thing from above but they weren't that great so I'll take them again.

Still to do (no particular order):
1.Finish the boneyard aircraft.
2.Finish military parking (IL-76s are in the wrong place at the moment).
3.Taxiway names (assuming I can find a chart somewhere) and signs.
4.Add trees around the HAS sites.
5.Add a few military objects to break up the monotony of massivee empty aprons.
6.Fix those bloody cliffs.
7.And anything else I've forgotten.

Thanks very much! That one is quite old and they do seem to have changed the system completely, but thanks for pointing in the direction of the jeppesen stuff as I found a 2011 equivalent, complete with parking numbers.

I will say most of the scare stories are exxagerated :P.

Some more views:

I've given the taxiways the correct designations as well as the stands, and finished doing the static ai for the boneyards (except maybe for the aerospace museum section in the far north). I needed to fiddle gate sizes a bit to convince Mahan Air A310s that they shoudn't be parking with an avro under each wing :P.

I also fiddled with the landclass a bit and removed any last vestiges of the vanilla airport background and roads running across the airport, except for one particularly stubborn one by the HAS sites which is now top of my hit list.

A quick update.

I've added some more buildings, and trees around the HAS sites. I've also used sloped polygons to deal with the ridges in places around the airfield. By and large it has worked, but in 3 places there are c.500m long dead straight ridges which appeared after I did that, and no combination of small/large polys will shift them. May have to pay a visit to fsdeveloper.

Overview:

I decided I would do the aerospace museum, admittedly mainly so I could put some Tristars in my sim:

One of the aforementioned ridges. The smooth slope up to the right away from the apron is the polygon doing its job properly. It should however go all the way round...

Is this for both FS9 and FSX?

FSX only. I don't own FS9.

Try using one of Don Grovestines proggies for the ridges.

On avsim look for the file fs9_311776.zip. This is a very good scenery for Mehrabad International airport for FS9. The AFCAD needs some work, but other than that it's real nice. Payware quality I say.

Indeed. The guy made an FSX version as well but it destroyed my framerates and the flatten was completely off, so I suspect that one is just a port over of the FS9 files. Plus the AFCAD issues and very very square static hercs (though as I recall the static planes can be removed very easily).
