Bristrol Sycamore as AI?

Has someone tried to get Bristol Sycamore flying as AI? I could let flying almost all classic helicopters as AI. However up to now I haven't be able to get the Sycamore in the air. Thanks for any helpful advice.

Well I got it flying but... I had this problem on another heli, no rotation on the props.
I'm not sure how to rectify this it might be part of the model.

You can't rectify it. AI models are intended for the blades to rotate when the engines start by using an animation.
Flyable models do not use that animation.
Now having said that if you are one of these people that knows how to alter things using MCX then you can possibly add an animation, I am thinking here rather than being sure that you can do that, but is it worth it?

Hi Steve, If you remember I had this problem on another heli, I gave up in the end.
You say flyable models do not have this animation, yet I've changed many a flayable to use as AI and they have worked, or have i misunderstood?

Hi Again Steve,
I forgot I have the MCX model converter, when I placed the heli in it and used the animation control, the rotas turned.
Now they probably turn because it is a flyable, so not sure if and how to rectify it, also I found a code through searching for making props turn, could that be edited in somewhere?

The thing is, and I may not use the correct wordage here as I am not a modeller, that you can model a prop/rotor and it will turn but AI models have specific animations that have to be coded. If I remember correctly there are 3 stages for a prop/rotor, if I am wrong a real modeller will correct me.
What I am guessing here is that the model does not use the fast blur animated disc method but just rotates the prop according to the power provided.
What I believe is that ones that use an animated disc will work fine in AI, ones that don't will not. I have found some of the older FS8/9 models had issues with the props idling when coming into land.
On the adding code into MCX I am not the right person to ask here. All my attempts at trying to make changes through MCX have not worked out at all.

Yes Steve, I have seen that, on approach I've seen the props/rotas stop spinning then activate again, then stop and so on.
I did read about the 3 stages of animation as you mentioned when I was searching, but as you previously said, "Is it worth it?"
I only gave it a try to help the op but got intrigued lol.

What this did do is remind me to test a theory I have for fixing the prop/rotor animation slowdown on approach.
I shall have to get to it when I get some time.

I was thinking, I have Westland Dragonfly heli which is very similar to this Bristol Sycamore, might be a good substitute.

Thanks to all trying to find solutions.
@Col. Dragonfly would work correctly as AI, but is some older than Sycamore. All heli used up to now fly as well as possible while
using "stemme_as_helicopter_1.bgl" file.

@leuen,
Yes that is an oldish air file, I used it years ago but there are other air files that also work with ai, have you tried some from the helis here on MAIW?
It is a fancy name for an air file, you can rename it you know to make it sorter, like I said I used it years ago and renamed it.

Not yet, but that eventually could help. Thanks for the tip.

Meanwhile I tried various .air files of MAIW AI helicopters, but all I got were CTD's. Sycamore seems definitely not be suitable as AI.

You can always use it with the Flight 1's software "Heli Traffic 2009"
