changing atc type

i really hate to say it, but im not really a expert of p3dv4. how do i change the atc type using the aircraft editor on ai flight planner so that the ai can communicate?

I think that I know what you mean but it is not obvious. So I will ask this.
Is it the fact that the AI aircraft are not talking to ATC, and vice versa, or that you want ATC to say the aircraft type?

the ai aircraft aren't talking to atc. i think its because the general atc type is silent.

No, I don't believe that to be the case.
The atc_type parm is for the aircraft manufacturer. Most AI have this set to silent so that during ATC conversations the aircraft is noted as a 'TYPHOON' and not a EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON'. The second way is not realistic.

The question I would ask is whether or not it happens at one base and one aircraft type or whether it happens at all bases and all aircraft, or something else.

Do you have Martin's AI Editor Dot NET? That will pick up any errors in the aircraft's cfg. Quite often, AI models are missing the Radio section, and AIE will pick this up and ask you if you want it to include it. Say 'yes', and it sorts it out. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the problem.

I have the same issue in FS9 sometimes.

Just a general question.
What would happen if the radio section in the cfg file is missing?

It is the first time that I read about that.

I have installed many callsigns with editvoicepack.
But unfortunatly some of them dont work, most of them do, which I have installed.
This affects civilian and military callsigns.

From what I understand, if the game understands that an aircraft has no radio then there will be no messages transmitted to the aircraft and obviously no response from the aircraft.

Quite simple really.
