I have recently started converting FS9 models to P3D, with reasonabe success.
However, I ran into an issue with the GAI DHC-4 Caribou, which I found on Flightsim.com. After converting it and some textures, the various fltsim.x entries for all the textures show up in AIFP as missing, and no matter what I try to do to the title= lines in the fltsim.x entries, they show up as missing in AIFP. The AI Aircraft Editor says everything is fine, and it will show me the textures.
I am using Model Converter X v. 1.6 and the latest AIAE and AIFP for this. I have been corresponding with Jon Dix (who has a working converted DHC-4) about this, and we are both puzzled. I have converted several other FS9 aircraft the same way as I approached the DHC-4 conversion, and they all work fine.
Thanks for any assistance -

Odd issue converting the GAI DHC-4 to P3D
Re: Odd issue converting the GAI DHC-4 to P3D
I have had this occasionally over the years. Every time I had it it was a problem with the format of the text file being saved.
Generally speaking there are 3 types of encoding for text files, ANSI, UTF-8 and UTF-16.
I have no idea why sometimes the save type gets altered but when it does the aircraft titles don't get read because there is a non-visible character at the end of name, a CR.
Trouble is you have to be able to see it to delete it. See if there are blanks at the end of a title or texture line.
Now I don't know what text editor you are using but try loading it into another one and see if it asks you if you want it converted. That is how I normally found out about it. Try loading into a freeware portable editor like Notepad++ and see if you get a question or you can see the characters, which normally look like a empty block.
The key thing here is that P3D doesn't read the cfg file but AIFP does this seems to point to a txt format issue.

Re: Odd issue converting the GAI DHC-4 to P3D
Jorgen,
I had the same issue with my conversion.
As Steve says there is something in the aircraft.cfg (some character) that the sim doesn't like.
It drove me nuts trying to figure it out. I think I eventually got it working but can't remember what I did.
Try this aircraft.cfg and see if it works for you.

Re: Odd issue converting the GAI DHC-4 to P3D
Thanks Gavin, I had a similar response from Greg Peters at AIG.
I will try those out, and if it works for me, then I need to look at the cfg files to see what is wrong with my present one and then report the whole thing to Martin to see if he thinks that AIAE can check for that. A rare issue, but you never know...
Thanks again -

Bingo, that took care of the issue!
Now for the analyzing and reporting to Martin.
A big thanks to Gavin and Jon for their assistance -
