Need Some Assistance Please

I'm wanting to repaint the RWAI C-17 in the 155th AS livery. I'm unable to find the original texture sheet or the paint kit, so I'm trying to repaint one of the current textures (183rd AS) in the download. I've tried both MS Paint and GIMP, using DXTBitmap to convert the .bmp into a .dds. The final outcome can be seen in the attached screenshot. The aircraft in the foreground (red and white part of the stripe) was done using GIMP. The aircraft behind was done with MS Paint. Both have the stripe color bleed through. I'm a beginner at GIMP, so don't beat me up to bad. :D

I would appreciate any advice or assistance to clean this up. If I can get this done, the results will be uploaded to the library.

Very much appreciated,
Reggie

hi Reggie

I've never used GIMP so can't help you there but I do have the paint kit for you if it helps.
when you compile your texture from Dxt to DDs you will lose some quality in the process.
change the text in the foreground aircraft, it looks like it says "WEWPHI5".

Thank you Ray, I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Reggie, are you re-doing the tail bands, I'm pretty sure I have these already.

Greetings Chris,
Yes, I’m trying to re-do the tail bands. Very frustrating. I’m doing better with GIMP, but still no joy. Check your PM's.
Much appreciated,
Reggie

Yep, I see I had the exact same issue when I updated a single tail band, lasso tool and copy/paste left the same white area using paint.net. I went back and see I only painted one since I didn't have the paint kit. Pulled the tails from other packages to set up the TN ANG, using the old C-5 FPs.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one having the problem. I'll keep working on it.
