Problem with Nimrod AI

Hi,
I was wondering if any of the guys here have any experience with a Kinloss Nimrod AI pack that can be downloaded from flightsim? It's quite basic, with just two aircraft doing TNG's but figured the model would do and I'd flight plan the rest. Problem is, I don't have no wheels as the aircraft are parked without the undercarriage showing. On the first FS9 boot up after adding the AI I got a message saying that the 'Nimrod' installed had something that was possibly not compatiable with FS9 and did I want to disable the problem. I clicked 'yes' thinking I could reverse it at a later time. Although I'm not sure, I'm thinking that that was what caused the lack of undercarriage. The problem is, I can't seem to reverse it. I don't get the same message on further boot ups - even after removing and adding the Nimrod AI aircraft to FS9 several times. I even added the same aircraft from a similar Waddington package after the Kinloss problem started and still got a Nimrod with no wheels. Given that a fresh install of the Nimrod after the problem never gave the same prompt it seems that something was altered in FS rather than the Nimrod folder itself. I know it's not one of the MAIW aircraft but you guys have come up trumps with my dumb questions before and this out of my league!!

Hi Gary
Your problem will not go by any means, because the aircraft is for FS2002 or earlier and FS2004 can not recognize some of the animation of the acft. You could fix the FS config file so it will ask again if you want to disable or not the part, but apparently, the wheels are the problem, no matter what you do, the wheels will not show. Sorry.
Try to find some other AI Nimrod.

The solution is in the FS9.CFG.
You can find it under C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\USER_NAME\APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\FS9
Search for the section [FrameCallNoWarn] and change the value related to Nimrod from 1 to 0.

Gents,
Thanks for the prompt help. Suprisingly, and probably by good fortune I now have them with working undercart. I went and found the file suggested, found the value, which was already at 0 but figured I might as well change it to the other value (1) and see what happens, even if it was the other way round to what was suggested. Sure enough it's worked. Nimrod now flying with gear up and down. Many thanks for the pointers -again!

I too am having the same problem with a particular aircraft. I searched for it in the cfg file, but it is not listed.
What should I do in this situation?

To be sure....you have to check what is written in the aircraft.cfg at row SIM=
for example :
[fltsim.0]
title=TORNADO desert storm Aeronautica Militare
sim=TORNADO_IDS-MARINE
model=
panel=
You have to search for TORNADO_IDS-MARINE in the FS9.CFG
This is mine .cfg
[FrameCallNoWarn]
TORNADO_IDS-MARINE=1

Hi again,
One further issue has cropped up with the AI Nimrod I'm using. Using a viewpoint not in the flyable aircraft, fine, the Nimrods are parked where they should be. When viewing from any cockpit view while, for example taxying past - they're not visible, go outside again on my viewpoint and they're back. This happens with all the different flyable aircraft I've tried and is the first time I've noticed it, all other parked AI is fine. Any ideas anybody - please?

It's a common problem with some pre FS2004 aircraft. Nothing can be done if you continue with the same model.

Hi,
Oh well, thanks anyway Graham. Just out of curiosity, what would I have to do to a flyable aircraft (like the UKMIL Nimrod I have) to turn that into a AI aircraft? I'm prepared to take the chance on frame rate as there won't be many about (I've written FPs for 8 and given the serviceabilty of them, thats probably optimistic!). I'm also ok with the the flightplan end of things, just is there anything I would need to do within the aircraft folder itself to make it work as a AI. Thanks yet again.

It may work with the same FDE or you could swap both the air file and aircraft.cfg for one from a similar aircraft and exchange the [fltsim.xx], [contact_points] and [lights] sections in the aircraft.cfg remembering to change the sim= line in all fltsim sections.

we now have a good AI nimrod. it can be found on SimV, or UKMIL as part of the KINLOSS AI pack

It is a better model for AI, but it still has no LODs so it does not rate as a good AI model yet.

UKMIL Flightplans are always very basic, not on a par with MAIWs work and they must start using LODs. Still, they're new to the game so hopefully they'll learn.

Well with any AI the hardest thing to get hold of is the model, and maybe the Nimrod will be updated to a Multi-LOD model. I hope so and encouraging them will help the learning process.
The paint schemes are the next most difficult thing to acquire, in my mind but thats because I am rubbish with paint packages.
Flightplans are the easiest to do, in my mind, but again UKMIL have only just started out on the AI path. Everybody starts somewhere and they will improve with encouragement.

indeed the current nimrod is not LOD, as that was created by matt, who is our only FSDS user, and he is currnenlty learning LODS. all my latest Gamx models are all multi LOD. we are currently making a new Tornado and Grob Tutor for the Leuchars pack. the Tornado has many LODS and currently gives little hot on my frame rates.
we are still learning, as we are jack of all trades. we produce full models, repaints, AI and scenery. unlike MIAW who specialise, it is difficult one day to produce a full model, where people want everything, then next day do AI where you have to scale it down. But we are getting there.
attatched is a pic of my tornado is test. my FPS is locked at 20, and i am getting 19.9 with a row of F3s. all with ground locks etc

It is good to see the advances being made, and good luck to Matt with the LODS, a modified Nimrod with LODs would be a great advance. The current one is a good improvement but with a full compliment at Kinloss, the LODs would make a lot of difference.

It does make a difference because of the proximity of another airfield which has a larger number of aircraft in situ. The total load at either airfield is affected by the number of aircraft on both. The new UKMIL Nimrod has made a tremendous difference but Multilod models at both must be the aim.

Gosh, i thought it was my pack, until i read 2 aircraft, my one has no wheels either, my friends one, (FS2004) has wheels though.
