I use Paint Shop Pro to take the actual shot. Just open PSP and FS then switch to PSP and hit shift/c (for capture, I guess). The screen takes you back to FS and when you get the right picture just right click and you have a .jpeg in PSP. From there you probably need to resize to a reasonable size. There are also other capture programs around. Now comes the part that I can't figure out. I can add an attachment but I have not been able to post a picture using a third party host. These guys do it all the time so maybe they'll explain it to both of us :)

Not a dumb question at all, in fact I just about guarantee that at some point in everyone's enjoyment of the FS series, we all asked the same exact question.

The easiest way to answer your question is to direct you to a website that has a wealth of knowledge on the subject. If for some reason, you can't read the links, let me know and I'll get the info to you.

Read through as much of this as you can stand and you'll be taking and making great screenies before you know it.

Start with this:
http://www.simviation.com/fsdtutscreensh.htm

Improve your shots with this:
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1189097948

The second link takes you deep into the world of FS Screenshots where these guys take this waaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously.

As always we encourage you to post your shots, however we ask that if at all possible you try to link them to an image hosting site like imageshack or at simviation. Those sites have far more capacity then we do.

If you use Photbucket or Webshots, the 2 biggest I believe, they will supply you with the img tags you need.
For instance. Say I take a pic and title it KJsSimShot, then upload it to Photobucket, the image tag would look like this.

[img]KJsSimShotPhotobucket123456[/img]

When you post that line of code on here, it links back to the picture which is stored at Photobucket and the pic will show on here.

Was that confusing?

Good job Jake.
It's easy to make a mistake when copying and/or pasting the img tag.
And I've found Photobucket easier to use than Webshots. In my experience, Webshots links would at times mysteriously become broken and unusable.

I use the demo version of Rapidshot, you get up to 10 in one go, then you have to close it, then when it gets up to 20 you have to take out the photos from a folder to another folder, then you get 10 more and so on, all you have to do is press 'prt scr' and it dosent do anything to the game and you can make them jpg's or other image file types.

I use a little proggy by the name of Snapper..it's by Ovosoft.
It allows you to do quite a few things such as..file extension, size and also cropping. You can take as many shots as you want by pushing any key that you assign. It will also show the nearest airport to your position if you so wish.

Nutter, if you go to your link, down at the bottom, there are three choices for code to copy and paste. What you want is the "Image Tag" code. This will make your image automatically appear on the screen so we can see it without having to click on the link.

So using the HTML code bookended by the [img]xxx.xxxxxxxxxx.xxx[/img] tags is what you want to use.

Very cool, now we'll have to get you to cut out the red boxed parts at the bottom.

Also as you can see by the segmented lines around the image, if it is over a certain size (pixels width and height, I can't remember what the cutoff is) the forums will automatically rescale the image to a smaller "thumbnail" sized image.

So using these tags, you can place an image in your signature line like many of us have. You simply make the image somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 pixles wide by 150 pixels tall and using those same image tags, place the link for the image in the signature box in the Profile section for your username. Again, if it exceeds the signature image max size, the forums will place a segmented box around it and resize it automatically to a size within the limit.

So the idea is to make your signature image a size so that it doesn't get the segmented box around it. Again about 350-400 pixels wide by 150-200 pixels tall is the limit for an image in your signature line.

Good luck. Feel free to post as many screenies as you wish in our Screenshot forums.

One more tip for you is to get a good (free) image editing program that will at least allow you to crop your images. There are many different ones out there but the one I like is called Infraview and can be found here. It allows you to do some basic things like resizing, croping, rotating and some basic editing. I think you'll agree, the ability to crop, or cut the image to feature the subject more prominently, makes for a much better screenshot. Not so much wasted space on the backgroud. Sometimes you want a lot of background to show, but usually the aircraft(s) is the star of the show.

For example I used Infraview to crop your image. I then also made a very minor edit to the shot to enhance it a bit. Can you spot the edit?
