Pilots at Columbus Air Force Base bid farewell this week to the T-37 Tweet, in a ceremony that sent 30 of the training jets into retirement.

"It's like you're happy and sad at the same time," said retired Maj. Al Konkel, who racked up more than 4,000 flight hours in the small, jet-powered aircraft.

jaja, no I wasn't going to ask that, but.. does it make sence to change jet trainers for turboprops? or there is no diference?

Javier,
Well, great question and I am on another forum with real world USAF instructors that have taught in both airframes. Just reading from what they say, the T-6 is the better platform, but the Tweet has was a good buy. Now if I can get my hands on one for civilian flying!

Yes, now that I read the article I can see the differences, but if i could choose, I wold definitely fly the T-37! no doubts on that... It's sad when technology makes great planes obsolete.

Same thing in the RAF in the early 90s when they replaced the Jet Provost with the turboprop Tucano.

Ive heard the Tucano is so good that it is virtually the same as the Hawk inside and handles the same...just a little slower.

I didn't realize CB was the last base with the Tweet.

T-37s remain at Sheppard for ENJJPT... all other UPT bases have phased them out for the Texan II.
