Was the Italian package mentioned here http://www.militaryaiworks.com/forum/vi ... php?t=1921 not to your liking?

Hi Keith, if I remerber well, that package was created assembling files found here http://www.diabolico.it/trafficoaereo/pvfs.htm.
At that time I was already using some AI traffic from there and had my own traffic for F-16 using Graham repaint. So I've never tried your package.Sorry

Keith, i've only been a simmer since October and properly into AI since this january so i missed your pack.

Honestly, I really don't mind if my package isn't used. I just pointed it out as it was a duplication of effort.

Keith if i had seen you're pack i would have used it, i just wanted some itlian F-16's in my sim as i had seen some at kinloss TLP and it was a mediocre size fleet making it a good early pack.

I see this has been now released on avsim but the FAI website appears to be down. The package seems to have only FSX AFCAD files, no FS9?

thats odd, because when when i look its FS9...
EDIT - Just checked the master files, they are FS2004 files.

Sorry, I was just confused by the AFX prefix of the files, as opposed to AF2.

As Rip pointed out to me, AFX can save afcad files in either FSX or FS9 format.

If the afcad is newly created in AFX or saved in FSX format, it uses the "AFX" tite. If AFX opens an afcad originally created in "afcad" for FS9, or is used to create and save an original afcad in FS9 format, then "AF2" is used in the title.

At least this is what I have gleaned from using AFX.

i like the term AFX instead of AF2 but if it removes confusion i will use FAI_AF2_XXXX_XX.bgl next time.

What I've run into since installing FSX and downloading afcads made specifically for FSX is this:

If AF2, AFX or ADE are in the title:
AF2 - made to FS9 standards. No FSX features are included in the afcad.
AFX - made/modified in AFX. Probably made for FSX - could be for FS9 but without trying it, there's no telling. If it was made for FSX and is then used in FS9, FSX-only features (ex., built-in exclude areas) will not show/be usable.
ADE - made/modified in ADE (airport Design Editor) for/compatible with FSX-use only. Same additional comments as AFX. AFAIK ADE afcads will not work at all in FS9, but I can no longer check this.

To confuse things even further, some ADE-created "afcad bgls", especially those which are packaged with additional scenery, have neither AF2 nor ADE in their titles. This makes identifying the actual "afcad" a pain in my ****. It's a case of opening each one in ADE - or trying to.

AFX, ADE and FSPlanner all make FSX-compatible "afcads". Each program's bgl has a format where the beginning is unique/unreadable by the other programs. So, if it's made in AFX and opened in ADE, for instance, you will lose "some functionality", buildings, etc. Of the 3, I believe only AFX can save in FS9 format.

I never saw "AFX" or ADE in any titles before installing FSX.

Not to hijack the thread too much but you can use the exclude and taxiway sign features in AFX...creating afcads for FS9.

There was nothing to exclude fotunatley :) otherwise i would have.

I dont signpost taxiways though.
