Let's hope that all the powerful states will press for a peace solution there, otherwise "pax russiana" is the one obvious consequence.

The news say that the Georgian troops backing out of South Ossetia. Hopefully this will result in calmer times there.

Georgia is already backing down and suing for peace.

Realistically, Georgia has no chance if Russia decides to be truly serious - no chance at all. It would be like Puerto Rico declaring war on the US.

Russians break truce....8:20am est,Cnn reporting Russian military heading towards Georgian capitol..reports of( irregular fighters) looting as well,...This isn't over yet.....Tanks heading deeper into Georgia,remaing Georgian pipeline closed as precaution.....Georgian president says:We will not give up till the last drop of blood is spilled.......//just in ...russians tanks have apparently turned around (unconfirmed from CNN).Looks like the russians might be stopping or turning around..?

This really isn't a good thing. Putin is flexing his muscle against what essentially is a ally of the West. It puts all sides in a very awkward position. Now we go sticking our noses in there with these relief flights.
