Do a search for 'drive through parking' and that should lead you to a couple of links.

Well, until our resident AFCAD guru chimes in on this....

I will post a small tutorial on how I do this. Basically you make a break in the taxi link behind the spot and then go back and overlap the two taxi nodes so that the line looks like it's a continuous line.

I'll post some screenshots tomorrow of what it looks like in AFCAD.

Oh yea, drive through parking is another way but it can be a real b!tch to make sometimes and not every afcad is suited to it.

thats kind of what i thought. I was doing that but wasn't sure it was the correct way. go ahead and post a screen shot tho if you would :)

14 sqn at RAF Lossiemouth is an ideal example of a drive through suited apron.

In AFX you simply select what, if any, type of push back you want. Excellent tool, even if you have to pay for it.

I do have AFX and am aware of that feature. but will it still work if its shared on avsim? i've learned that some option in afx will not work once its opened in afcad, or maybe in this case another machine.

It seems that the FSX pushback feature works for some people but not for others - and in different places, different behavior within the same setup.

MS/Aces stated on Avsim some time ago that the feature was not completely implemented. Celtic Warrior made a post back in April that it doesn't work, right after I made a post that "it always has for me". Since then, I've found places and setups within my sim that it doesn't work. So, YMMV.

That's correct if you open AFX files in AFCAD2 it removes the AFX added features. You can always add a warning to the upload telling the user not to do it and if they do they are on their own. MAIW add a text file regarding this to packages that include AFX files.

Never had a problem of features not working when used on other machines. I'd imagine that would be plain stupid to make it work like that to be honest. I've not had any problems with the ones I've produced and shared with other folks.

Here's the screenies from AFCAD in FS9

First shows a parking spot. I've added two taxi nodes behind the spot on the taxi link leaving space in between the two if possible.

Then I highlight the link that's between the two new nodes and delete it, therebye breaking the taxi link behind the parking spot.

Then I simply place the two new nodes with un-connected taxi links overtop one another so that the taxi line looks continuous even though AFCAD and FS9 will consider it broken and not allow the aircraft to push back.

Sometimes you can do this in just one or two strategic locations and not have to worry about doing it behind every spot. But you'd be amazed at the lengths the AI go to to circumvent your efforts.
