How big is your....???

Okay, get your minds out of the gutter and back in the sewer where they belong... uh, back in front of the monitor where it belongs.

Seriously, while playing around with the batch renaming traffic.bgls idea that came up in another thread, I finally took a real look at the size and number of traffic bgls I have.

I'm sure my numbers are less than some and more than others.

Number of traffic files - 634
Total size in MB - 207
Largest file other than the default air file, VHHX_JET.bgl, GA_PAI or any Ultimate GA file - WoAI American Airlines - 3,918KB.
Largest Military AI file - PAI C17s - 823 KB

Anyone else care to share?
I am the curious type.

I only have 106 traffic files currently loaded.

I have others that I drag into my scenery/world/scenery folder from another location on my hard drive as sort of a customization effort. This reduces the amount of AI flights that I would never see based on preferred locations of flight.

My largest traffic file is one I call Traffic_Mod which contains mostly GA and Military flights that I created on my own using available AI aircraft from the web sites.

Size of this file alone is 6,771 KB.
Second place is Traffic_AIG_Su08_AmericanAirlines.bgl at 3,681 KB

When I sim fly in Australia I load Traffic_VOZ which is 8,804 KB

As for me, I have 974 traffic .bgl files. 152 of them are military related, the rest is all civilian and includes rarities such as Antonovs (An-22, 124, 225), Airbus Belugas, AI aircrafts used as statics and for some sceneries only some ground traffic or ships.
It takes almost 15 minutes to load FS2004!

That's a long load time! You must have the patience of Job.

I've always wondered whether the startup time would be shorter with one humongous traffic bgl or a bunch of smaller ones - and whether that differs from FS version to FS version.

OK, I hope this doesn't turn into a willy-waving exercise;

I've got 1,178 traffic files totalling 373 MB, the largest of which is the HTAI Cessna package at 9.5MB. It takes over 20 minutes to load FSX, and because of that when I fire it up I tend to keep it running for a long time.

I have 344 Traffic files totaling 96 MB it only takes about 3 minutes to load up! lots of scenery too.

I don't/didn't intend for that to happen. My curiousity is partially because I've recently begun to see longer startup times which are traceable to either the scenery or ai traffic databases.

Since I know what I have on my system both scenery and traffic-wise, I was wondering what others have on theirs.

Definitely not menat to be a willy-waving taunt or thread.

I'm sorry, I didn't phrase it the way I meant it. What I meant was referring to my post  I didn't mean my post to turn this into a "my setup is bigger than your setup" thing. We all know the kind of person; if someone's done something, then they've done it more, longer, faster.

Sometimes I hate the amount of stuff I have on this, especially when I'm making airfield sceneries and it takes forever to reload each time and test out my efforts. But then I like going anywhere in the world and finding it populated with AI, not a barren waste of uninhabited airfields.

So I admit, I'm a traffic file junkie :P

For FS2004, I have cut way down what I use to run. One of the things I noticed is that I am getting faster load times was after I reduced my add-on scenery to a smaller level. I have just over 250 levels in my scenery cfg now. I use to have over 700.

Number of Aircraft Installed: 775
Number of textures installed: 13107
Number of aircraft texture maps: 12778
Number of Aircraft used in Flightplans: 21264

Number of flightplan files: 704
Number of airports visited: 792969
Number of different airports visited: 28121
Number of Flights: 115038
Number of legs: 1363544

Size of aircraft map: 32.92GB
Size of Flight Simulator map: 49.77

I have 209 military traffic files.

I have added most of my traffic to FSX to some degree. Not enough AFCADs is the biggest problem with it.

2. Ultimage GA Challenger 3,230 KB
3. Ultimate GA Cessna 550 3,059 KB

I once thought I would be happy if I created several different Cfg files that would load on specific geographic locations and traffic only associated with that area of the world. It turned out to be a lot of work and did not cut back the load times.

I have on several occasions consolidated all traffic files to reduce the number of bgls. Finally I upgraded after a hard drive crash and I am almost burned out on trying to repair/replace my FS2004.

Traffic files: 502
Size: 267MB
Size of FS folder: 23.1GB (containing 100,505 files in 11,294 subfolders)

The biggest file is a GA compilation (64MB) followed by my old PAI traffic file (15MB) in which I previously put all my custom traffic. With the availability of airline packs from the WoAI team and the recent real world happenings I deleted the lines in the PAI file. I had about 400,000 legs in that file. Today there are about 80,000 legs.
