Refueling Routes

Is there a quick and easy way to simulate a refueling track? I've made an attempt w/ an 'aerial runway' using a modified existing airport but the aircraft are still going down to near ground level instead of staying up at the flight level. I think I've seen this successfully done in some packages, so any clues?

Could you not have a way point at say flt lvl 200 to which ai makes an approach to?

Well that's what I am trying.... only the aircraft are still going down to the original field altitude and not the new altitude I set at FL240.... so I assume I missed something in the AFCAD? I guess I could also just try making a new airport instead of modifying an existing one.

You have to have the runways at height as well as the airfield. Try that.

I already did and it still wasnt working. I looked through every option in the AFCAD and runway properties and set each altitude to 24000... still doesnt work. I'm going to try creating a new one now.

If I recall there is a limit to the altitude you can make an AFCAD in FS.
No real world airports at 24,000ft.
The highest I have found in FS is at around 13,000ft if I remember correctly.
Try making one at 12,000ft and if it works see how much higher you can go before it fails.

Steve.

There is no need to build a small, invisible airport with AFCAD.
Add the GPS co-ords in the airport text. The aircraft will just disappear at the altitude you have set for your waypoints.

Example in the Airport text file:

REF1,N47* 08.41',W117* 38.86',2000
REF5,N47* 04.00',W124* 39.50',2000

Talking of waypoints, which package has them, I used to have it a good while back, I may still have it backed up on a disk somewhere?
There were various waypoints around the UK, some SAR etc.

One I know of for sure is MAIW Air Show

@ Paul,

I used to do that, I had points of the compass around the UK as waypoints, the aircraft used to spawn from them and land at the designated airport, good idea for populating an airport quickly.

Thanks for the reply Paul, you posted as I did. :)

So the aircraft will just go to the waypoint, disappear, and not return?

That is correct, unless you make it return in the flightplans or go to another airport. They will still disappear at the waypoint and regenerate when it's time for them to fly.

Example:

AC#56,CH_XX_9,30%,24Hr,IFR,14:49:59,15:34:31,200,F,0058,REF1,15:44:55,16:42:51,195,F,0058,REF5,16:52:00,17:20:23,200,F,0058,KTCM
