AI parking

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to where I've gone wrong. Two Tornadoes + three F104's flying Rimini-Ghedi, worked perfectly. I then changed it to Rimini-Istrana. Now, both Tornadoes park in the same slot...and the F104's do the same. I have five dedicated parking slots, but three of them are always ignored. Thanks.

Hi Russell,
When you say you changed it, what did you change?

The flightplan is what I changed...and the LIPS Afcad to give dedicated parking slots.

I'm quite sure that there is not an Hold Short Point on the taxiway the A/C use.
I've had the same problem last year with my LIED AFCAD.

I know there are a lot of seemingly unneccesary hold shorts on LIPS, but not on the route the AI takes. Would that also affect LIPR though?. 'cos I have'nt touched that, and that worked perfectly before.

That's the point! AI must pass through a Hold Short Node.
Just out of curiosity, have you got an addon scenery for Istrana?

Hi Bismarck,
people coming to my house are like bus's. no one for ages...then they come one after the other just when you least need them.
Yes, I do have an Istrana addon....LIPS2007.ver.1

The point of the hold short node in the taxiway network is that this is the point at which AI aircraft are "transferred" from inflight ATC to ground ATC control (or vice versa) as I understand the MSFSn system.

The function of the hold short node is much more than just transfer of control.
When an AI aircraft lands, the AI engine will assign the first suitable parking spot to that aircraft when still on the runway. It is ONLY when the aircraft passes a hold short node, that this parking spot will be considered by the sim as taken. If this "confirmation" doesn't happen, the next similar aircraft that lands (with same radius, parking codes etc) will be given the exact same parking spot as the previous one, as you have seen.
The solution is simple: all exits from a runway need hold short nodes as well.

Firebird is checking the Afcads out..but it appears you guys have hit the nail on the head. I put a hold short on each of the exits the two aircraft use...and it's done the trick. Can't thank you all enough for the excellent advice and knowledge. I would never have sussed it out in a hundred years. I thought hold shorts were only required at the runway ENTRY points...so would never have seen the lack of one at an exit as a fault. Thanks again.

Russell, glad to be helpfull.
I do not want to bother you abuot LIPS scenery, but I cant find it on the usual sites.
Have you got the right zip file name of it, or a link where I can find it?
I only found a scenery I already have by Andrea Candon on Flightsim (istrana2.zip).
It is not so good....
Thanks, Giorgio

When an AI aircraft lands..snip
Um, let's see. My statement concerning the function of the hold short node is accurate
as typed while the above response refers to the consequence of executing that function. The
parking assignment function you mention
and its consequence(s) will not happen unless and until the atc's transfer/assume control of the aircraft.
MSFS uses nested functions to accomplish what it does but only executes one at a time. No detailed argument concerning that was appropriate here so I used a simple statement to amplify Bismarck's statement that "ai must pass through a Hold Short Node" was important.

Sorry for the delay Giorgio. Thats strange, I sent it at 6.17pm last night, with no indication that it had'nt been delivered. I could'nt remember where I got it...but now I do. It's the official AB of the virtual 22Gr-51St available at...

No need to be snarky Ford, I never said you were inaccurate
Smoky is clearly new to this, and I'm sure he has never heard of "nested funcions" in FS9, so I merely explained why this transfer of control at a hold short node is imperative for his AI traffic.
But you were right, of course.
