Does anybody have the FSD C-17 model (comes with their T-38 )?? I really want a good C-17, and I know Mike Stone has one out but I prefer a little more realism in flyability and visuals then what he puts out (not a shot to him, he does a great job). I just wanna know if it's worth the $20 or so or if I just shouldn't even bother lol.

I know Alphasim is making one, but they're my last choice. I hate their FDEs....

I have it and I like both the C-17 and the T-38. I would say they are worth the $20

However the C-17 model is unfinished. The visual model is pretty good but there is no 2D panel, no sound and only a partially finished VC that has no functioning guages. But I used it for a while and used Mike Stone's 2D panel to fly it. It's easy on frame rates that's for sure.

I have the C-17 as well. I used the Mike Stone version panel too. I found a decent sound download for the PW 2000 series engines to improve my C-17s. The Air Force designates this engine as F117-PW-100 turbofan engines. However if you do a search for PW 2000 and probably 2043 and or Boeing 757 sound you might find the sound files to suit your needs. I am completely with FSX now and the move worked well for me.

My interest is for a better 2-D panel. Searched high and low for a better one than Mike Stone offers. That's one of the reasons why I was following the developments of the AlphaSim planned release.

Anyone know of a better (more photo realistic and functional) 2-D out there?

Ok, I sucked it up and bought it (was on sale for $17.50 anyway). It's ok, not that great but not bad and definetly worth it given the lack of other C-17 models out there. Only problem now is I can not find a 2d panel to fit, I can't even find Mike Stone's .

It feels a little sluggish in the stick though given actual C-17 performances you can view on youtube or any air show, anybody seen that or is it just me??

My summary: If the T-38 DID NOT come with it, I wouldn't pay more than $5.00

The T-38 is the best part of the deal. I fly it all the time.

We just need a new T-38 for those flying FSX.

I might re-install FS2004 just because I loved that jet so much.

Their T-38 needs a serious FDE tune up, it's a bit difficult to handle.

I think the roll-rate was the only thing that came close to effective simulation. I can't speak from experience flying it though. The takeoff numbers might have been close too. A few of my Air Force classmates in JSUPT went to T-38s. I used to hear about these guys getting pre-stall buffeting while turning to final if they weren't watching their airspeed.
We're talking:

Final turn speed - plus I knot per 100 lb over 1000 lb fuel: 175 KIAS
Final appr speed - plus I knot per 100 lb over 1000 lb fuel: 155 KIAS
