The following ships, the guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon ( DDG 58 ), HMS Portland (F79) of the United Kingdom, FS La Fayette (F710) of France and RFS Admiral Chabanenko (650) of Russia sail the waters of the Atlantic Ocean as part of FRUKUS 2007. Sorry about the clarity on some of the pictures. It was a very humid day out in the VACAPES.

Here are pics of the KA-27 from the Admiral Chabanenko. These bounces were fun as when they switched seats for there approach they actually came in from the wrong side and our LSE (Landing Signal Enlisted) had to run over to the other side to help guide them in.
I think (Victory103) knows what I am talking about.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see co-operation between navies. I live not far from the town that HMS Portland is named after.

It was quite an experience working with the other navies. We did this in Jun of 07 and then we deployed a couple of months later and were part of Standing Naval Maritime Group-2 (SNMG2). Which was quite memorable as it was my first true med deployment. We had the HMS Northumberland, ITS Alieso, TCG Oruç Reis, FFG Aegeon, SPS Canarias and the German oiler Rhön for the first half of the deployment. The second half had the HMS Sutherland, FGS Niedersachsen, FFG Hydra, ITS Euro. I can't remember the other 2 ships for the life of me. My old ship should be visiting your country soon. (Up North)

Great pics, not sure what the KA-27 was thinking on the second approach. Normal SOP is to have the non flying pilot put his hands up on top of the instrument panel to show the LSE the other guy is flying, but the approaches can be flown from either seat, at least in the H-60.

Yea I don't know what they were thinking. I remember the HCO telling the LSE which seat it was going to be and then he came in from port side.
On a flight 1 DDG the approach is from the starbord side of the ship. Lineup line and the SGSI are setup that way. I guess when they say left seat it translated out to being come in from the left. Needless to say our LSE was a little stressed out
