Hello!

Just to share a very nice package that I just downloaded at AVSIM.RU

It represents Sokol Sakhalin airbase with flightplans of Su27/30's (mainly) although the fp's are limited to flying between UHKG and USOK or touch and go's!!!

Still looking great!!! :D

Hope you enjoy!

Yeah ... but it utilizes Bill Wolfgen (Bear Studios) flyable Su-27 models ...
Needs to be replaced by something multi-LOD ...

PS. Here's one of screenshots embedded into the package:

PS2. Just found out: the guys are 3 LOD:
LOD1 - 17568 ACM polygons
LOD2 - 9691 ACM polygons
LOD3 - 204 ACM polygons (not textured at all, though ...)
- a little better but still not in MAIW standards ...

Yeah, ok it might not be MAIW standards but there is hardly anything flying there so it's not bothering my framerates at all.

Imagine though when there will be this MAIW Russia pack........... 8)

ps. One thing though... in this package you have quite a few "api" files... in the "Macro" files.... any idea where they should be placed in FS, since my Russian is not that good........ ;)

Something to consider if you choose to install this scenery...

While this airbase WAS once known for being the home of the aircraft which shot down the KAL-007 747 "back in the day", military finances since the transformation from "Soviet Union" to Russian military forces has effectively rendered this base a "'reserve' forward operating base" with few or no permanently stationed aircraft (at least according to my best efforts at researching it.)

That means that while satellite imagery may show aircraft on the ramps, unless you can find the imagery's date, the pic's potentially deceptive. I did a Google Earth look just now and that base is currently in one of the areas which are extrememly pixelated so that I can't see any detail at all of the base (outside of the general outline of the runways).

Just food for thought.

Hey Maki, 'cos Russian is not such a problem for me still (far, far away from Comie times ) I can tell you there nothing interesting written about these .api.
I think you can leave them where they are as these are just bricks for scenery designers and the scenery itself is compiled to .bgl files ...
These mostly are Russian vehicles bricks for FSSC or something

Since installing IE7 I can no longer download files from AVSIM.RU. I get the following message (translated, badly, from Russian) after attempting to download:

"ATTENTION! You are not authorized. Speed running off is limited 5 kb/s. If you please be authorized on the site in order to remove this limitation.

IF YOU PLEASE NASTROYTE YOUR MANAGER OF ROCKINGS to the running off of file into 1 FLOW. Your IP address (216.109.121.44) will be automatically blocked for 24 hours, if we the number of attempts skachat' in several flows will exceed 100.

If you already skachali this file, if you please leave commentary. Thus you will help other users to solve, it does be worthwhile for them him to draw off. You be correct with respect to the authors and other users."

Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this please? Many thanks.

They limit downloads to 1 file at a time a 5kb/sec unless you are a registered user.

Try clearing/deleting all cookies from them and/or registering with them (unless they now require a donation - then it's up to you whether it's worth it or not).

I had the problem you described for about a day. Deleted cookies.. waited about 3 hours and then went back and had no problems.

If all else fails, email them. They're pretty friendly.

BTW, the "skachat" word equates to "download".. so essentially it seems to be saying you're trying to access/create more than 1 download stream at a time.

Got it sorted now thanks. I left a post on their forums and I was advised to click on the text 'Скачать файл ' above the warning message and the download would commence. Sure enough, it did. :)
