From AF Daily Report 26 May 09

Cannon Gets First Gunships: The first two of eight AC-130H Spectre gunships destined for the new Air Force Special Operations Command force at Cannon AFB, N.M., arrived last week. The remaining aircraft are slated to arrive later this summer, according to the Cannon photo release. The AC-130 gunships are part of the 16th Special Operations Squadron that is shifting from Hurlburt Field, Fla., to Cannon, where it will operate under the 27th Special Operations Wing. AFSOC took over operations at Cannon, setting up its long-sought western hub, in October 2007. The command expects to move about 600 personnel from Hurlburt to Cannon to establish the 16th SOS at the New Mexico facility.

Surely there's one floating around out there somewhere. Or do you mean "working" as in it's got elevation issues??

Here is some FS2002 scenery at Flightsim. com . You can use AFX or AFCAD to tweak the parking, elevation, etc.

Guess I need to divert some AC-130's from Hulburt to fill the ramp/sky. While working on Kirtland AFB parking I did a scratch up with GE and the airport diagram to get a basic Cannon. Can you guys post your AFCADs when finished?

Wow, almost a year ago. Looking over the Cannon AFB mil site and noticed all the now resident squadrons, some from the Hurlburt and Duke packages. I am going to adjust my flightplans and "move" the units. Then I saw on the site something cool, Spec Ops Dash 8's. The CV-22's are there, but since there is no AI model, no worries.

318th SOS-PC12
73rd SOS- MC-130W
16th SOS- AC-130
524th SOS- Dash 8's
551st SOS-FTU for MC/AC platforms

Not to mention the MQ-9's based there as well. I'll see if I can get some pics of the -8's.
